Can't have all the glory, Prince William. Your younger brother is doing stuff too!

Prince Harry has just been promoted to the rank of captain in the British Army. According to a Palace spokesperson, the young royal rightfully earned the title because of his extensive training and length of service in the Army Air Corps.

So, should you ever find yourself serving next to his majesty, you shall refer to him as Capt. Harry Wales. The Prince stays silent!

Congrats, Harry! Well deserved!

  1. 1

His last name is actually "Mountbatten-Windsor".

  2. 2

Wrong Meggie, As a royal he doesn't actually use a last name but when he does it is the name of his "jurisdiction" as his father is the Prince of Wales, he would use the last name Wales, just as Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie would use York

  3. 3

He would also be known as Henry not Harry

  4. 4

Re: AnitaMandalay – Wrong Anita. Whether or not he uses his last name doesn't mean he doesn't have one. He can be casually known by his jurisdiction "ie: Harry, Prince of Wales or Perez, Queen of all Media", but legally, his last name is Mountbatten-Windsor.

Re: AnitaMandalayRe: Meggie246624 – you two have got to be british!

  6. 6

and he is "His Royal Highness", not "his majesty"

  7. 7

Bet he's a barrel of fun to party with!!!

  8. 8

    Good for him

  10. 10

He would be known as "Harry", as that is his given name at birth. It is not a nickname for Henry in his case.

  11. 11

and yes his name technically is Henry, but he goes by Harry.

"Prince Henry Charles Albert David (always known as Prince Harry) was born on 15 September 1984 at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington. He was christened by the Archbishop of Canterbury in December 1984 in St George's Chapel, Windsor."

  12. 12

Meggie is correct. His style is Prince Henry (or Harry) of Wales. He, Prince Charles, Camilla, Prince William, and his uncles Princes Andrew and Edward and their descendents all make use of the surname Mountbatten-Windsor.

  13. 13

    Harry Wales? LOL!

  14. 14

Perez, Prince Harry comes from the House of Windsor not Wales. Wales is a Country in the UK (United Kingdom;England, Wales, Scotland, & Ireland). King Henry viii, Queen Mary, Queen Elisabeth I were all Tudors. Prince Phillip is the Duke of Edinbourough, his last name is not Edinbourough.

  15. 15

He may be the 'spare' but, Ginge Harry is way hotter than the Heir… Now that is a MAN!

  16. 16

Names aside, do you really think that royalty wouldn't be given top officer positions in the military? Have you ever CRACKED A BOOK Perez? It's pretty much a given.

  17. 17

What's better than a man in uniform? A Prince in uniform. Sets my fairytale heart ablaze! Congrats Captain!

  18. 18

His surname isn't Wales (his father is the duke OF Wales, not mr Wales) . loser.

"So, should you ever find yourself serving next to his majesty, you shall refer to him as Capt. Harry Wales. The Prince stays silent!"

^Huh??? That makes NO sense at all. What are you talking about Perez? Harry is what… like 3rd in line for the throne at this point. You should really know what you're talking about before you post something so absurd.
