Let The Games Begin! New HBO Show Ratings Are In!

And they're solid!

Though it didn't pull in anything near what Boardwalk Empire did on its premiere, HBO's new show Game of Thrones debuted pretty well on Sunday. With its three initial airings combined, Game managed to wrangle in a total of 4.2 million, with half of that tuning in for the first viewing.

Not bad, not bad. Hopefully all those people come back to it next Sunday. Unlike Boardwalk Empire, it seems these numbers weren't good enough to give them an instantaneous greenlight for season two, so they've got to work that much harder!

Did any of U tune in for the show? What did U think?

UPDATE: After just one episode, HBO has decided to renew Game of Thrones. The second season will likely debut sometime next year.

    It was good!

Boardwalk Empire is so over-rated. This looks like a good one though. May have to check it out.

Sean Bean is one of my favorite actors.

Game of thrones was definitely pretty good! I have heard the books are incredible…so I have a feeling this series is going to get really good!
Lots of boobs too, so thats always good.

I hope it succeeds as Sean Bean is one of my favorites BUT one of the reasons the viewership was higher is that the HBO was free out here for this weekend…otherwise I would never have seen it! Also LOVE Jason Momoa too!

Yeah, this should be the last post on here about this show, unless they introduce a gay theme to it. Otherwise, gayboy perez has no interest, as this is "gay celbrity juice, not from concentrate".

I don't think peak ratings matter as much for HBO as ratings per demographic. HBO is subscriber based so people pay on a monthly basis. As long as they are able to provide some valuable entertainment during the subscription life for a subscriber they are looking good. They target programs to draw in certain demographics while possible leaving other shows to target the portion they are leaving out. Big Love which deals with emotional and social issues tries to lure in female viewers while the sex and violence charged Game of Thrones goes after a more male audience.

And just to piss everyone off. Sean Bean's character dies in the first book, after the king accidently is killed. Sorry Bean-er's. :)

Didn't love it. Just OK. Boardwalk Empire is much better.

Loved the show and can't wait for next week.
Kit Harington as Jon Snow did an excellent job and I'm looking forward to the Jon Snow character development.

Yes! I did watch it and I watched it over and over. Love it…Great cast, action, story line, and shock value…..and the best part JASON MOMOA. Damn I'm so in love with that man. He is the only reason I watched the show to begin with and it turn out to be a great entertaining show. If they kill Jason off…I'm done with the show.

preview looked really good, did not watch it though!

Awesome! GREAT show. I loved it. This show is (hands down) better than the other "period junk" on the airwaves.

I'm so happy they'll be showing Loras and Renly as a gay couple in the show. VERY COOL! Hot knights getting it on. What is better than that?

Re: hoochpit – actually there is a gay couple in the show, and i hear they have a sex scene — or at least a make out scene — in this season.
