It's less about the idea that one of their kids will become King or Queen, that's pretty much a given, and more about the idea that if Kate and William have a daughter before a boy, that things might change where the boy wouldn't automatically take the throne even if he has an older sister!
As it stands right now, even if the first born is a girl, if they have a boy second, he will be the one taking the throne. The boys take precedence in British monarchy.
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg is contemplating removing "male primogeniture," which is why boys get the role over girls, because:
"My own personal view is that in this day and age the idea that only a man should ascend to the throne I think would strike most people as a little old fashioned.
"If Prince William and Catherine Middleton were to have a baby daughter as their first child, I think most people would think it is perfectly fair and normal that she would eventually become Queen of our country … I think it is worth thinking about."
Yeah! We're all for that!
We mean, it's only fair, right?? And he's right that in this day and age people are much more aware of the fact that ladies can do just as much as dudes!
Even though this has been brought up, the Prime Minister reminds us that there are more pressing political issues at hand that should be dealt with first.
We agree with that too, but, if this could be quickly done then you might as well do it!
How do U feel about the idea of that change??
