That was fast!

Amy Smart has announced that she's engaged to HGTV carpenter Carter Oosterhouse.

The two met in November 2010 at a green-charity event and have been in love ever since.

Amy says that the engagement is "very new" and "very exciting."

The proposal was apparently quite the surprise for Amy.

A friend close to the couple says:

"It happened four days ago. He proposed in L.A. It was a very big surprise but she is thrilled and is very excited. They are a good pair and very in sync with each other. He's an eco-carpenter; Amy drives a hybrid and is the greenest girl I know. They are perfect for each other. Here are two wholesome, kind, sweet Midwestern types. Neither has sold out and gone Hollywood."

Sounds like a match made in heaven. Seems like a fast romance, but who cares? They're obviously meant for each other!

Congratulations to Amy and Carter!

Listen youngsters, my husband and I knew each other for 3 months before we got married. That was almost 40 years ago. We've lived all over the world and our children are highly successful in their chosen profession (YEAH..my daught just rec'd her Phd.) There were many dark times, but in the words of the great poet Van Morrision…."Go from the dark side of the road to the sunny side of the street". This kind of devotion isn't for everyone. My daughter (the prof) does'nt like kids, so she has 3 cats. My son has for daughters. Different people…………..different outcomes…..I wish them good luck….they're going to need it!!!!

@ granny j…Just because it worked for you 40 years ago, it doesn't make it right!
The fact still remains that the majority of marriages with very short courtships end in divorce. Why? Because after 5 months, you just can't know enough about a person to tell if you can live with them for the rest of your life.

Sorry, but this isn't love. Just another single woman pushing 40 who is desperate to marry and procreate before her eggs dry up.

My position is to campaign against anyone getting married. Ever. But she is so hot I'd be stupid enough to marry her too. Oh sure, it wouldn't work out in the long run, marriages never do, but I'd have fun with her until then.

Re: lau115ren – Half of marriages still end in divorce, regardless of how long the courtship was. These two aren't teenagers, and if it feels right, they should grab the brass ring. Being mature enough to decide that each of you is going to do whatever you have to do to make it work, and that neither of you are going anywhere, is the stuff that makes a long term relationship last. (barring the dealbreakers of abuse, addiction, or adultery)
