Sorry, Thor! Australians Loooove Fast Five!

| Filed under: Film FlickersAustraliasticBusiness Blitz

fast five beats thor in australia

Whatever floats your boat, Australia!

Fast Five and Thor have already opened in Australia, and very surprisingly audiences flocked to the fifth Fast film EVEN more than Thor!

By day two of release, Thor had made $1.5 million US, whereas Fast Five made $2.02 million US! Ouch!

Here are some reasons why this is kind of painful/unfortunate/embarrassing for Thor:

- Thor was released in 3D, yet the higher ticket prices still couldn't pull the film ahead of Fast Five

- The lead actor in Thor, Chris Hemsworth, is Australian

- Fast Five is #5 in its franchise, whereas Thor is a fresh, original, brand new film/franchise

Guess we'll see where America's priorities lie when the films are released over the next few weeks.

What would U prefer to see? Fast Five or Thor?

BECAUSE IT'S THE KIND OF SELFCONGRATULATORY, SELFISH AMERICAN FLAG WAVING BULL SHIT THAT WILL ONLY FLY IN AMERICA. THE BRITS WILL PROBABLY HATE IT TOO! THEY'RE STILL GETTIN OVER INDEPENDANCE DAY… WELL WE ALL ARE! PLUS ITS A SUPERHERO NOBODY COULD GIVE A CRAP ABOUT!

If this post is about the Australian box office, why are you giving us the US figures? Confusing.

You are seriously the WORST "blogger" I have ever followed. I guess I just come to this site because it's more covenant than any other gossip site.

Or maybe it's because I like to read your terrible posts, grammar, and bullshit to further prove my point that you're a complete waste of life :)

Fucking bogan austaralians. Fast and furious is shit. Get your head on straight and watch something good for a change!

I'm an Australian and I'd much rather watch Thor !!

    FAST FIVE…is definitely my pick!

As someone living in Australia I've heard that Fast Five was out but haven't heard a thing about Thor.

Here's another possible reason that Thor is tanking. Thor is only a secondary Marver superhero. He's just not at the same level as Spiderman, X-Men or even the Fantastic Four (a movie that should have been MUCH better than the garbage that we got). People just don't care enough about Thor to go to go see it in the theater and if Hollywood did any research at all before making this film they could have found this out and saved a ton of money.

agree with scatter, thor not close to other marvel sup's. i'd rahter see 'the vision' than the norse god's son.
fast & furios is inane, but dumb people need entertainment too, and there's lots of them. jordana is hot to look though, but has the acting skills of an extra on 'days of our lives'.

Why is this news? Especially when you are reporting figures for only the second day after release!?!?!?! I know in the USA they wait unitl AFTER the weekend/week is over before trashing a movie's figures so……. WTF?

Australia and New Zealand are petrol head cultures

how is this news? of course fast and furious will be more popular, people will want to see it after watching the other movies instead of another movie that comes from a comic book. theres also alot more fast five advertising, we are not going to watch a movie just cause there's a australian in it

Vin Diesel need i say more….

I'm personally looking forward to Fast Five. I mean Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and The Rock! The movie theatre will be packed with women. Between those three and being an action flick, who needs a storyline!

Just saw Thor….loved it…. I'm also a fan of Natalie Portman.

    Re: mattyvoyager

I think you are getting THOR mixed up with Captain America. they are different films, even though they are both made by Marvel.
