We can DO this!

Governor Andrew Cuomo began a campaign this week to legalize gay marriage in New York.

He's planning on using a strategy that will go on a much different path than the similar bill, which failed in the state two years ago.

Attempting to avoid poor legislative and political planning, like the first time around, Cuomo has assembled a group of A-list political strategists and several gay rights groups to back his campaign.

A spokesman for the governor says:

"This is an important issue for the administration, and the governor is committed to working with New Yorkers to get the marriage equality legislation passed."

Cuomo has made this campaign his "mission" and "feels this is part of where New York should be — at the forefront."

Ross Levi of the Empire State Pride Agenda adds:

"We are going to garner all the resources we can. A strong united community working together is going to be a great asset in accomplishing our goal."

We are proud of Andrew Cuomo's efforts to legalize gay marriage in New York. Good luck to you and all your supporters. We're rooting for you.

I know LOTS of gays, and I don't get why they would like to get married since they MOST of the time are in open relationship just doing everything in sight. I don't oppose marriage of any kind, but I don't believe gays (male) would honor the vows they would take. Lesbians from what I have seen can be more loyal than the gay males. As a NYC resident, I don't think I am afraid I would have to vote NO.

Unfortunately, "Perez", you're going to have to wait for inter-species marriage- and that might take a while longer.

Re: diamondheart – By that reasoning no-one should get married. Not a bad thought.

Re: diamondheart – You are a fucking idiot. The last sentence of your post doesn't even make any sense. Sounds like you're a slut who hangs out with a bunch of slutty guys. Whore.

Re: mcsqueel – lol no need to attack an error in the last sentence, but dude, I work in an industry that is dominated by gay men and that is what happens whether you like to admit to it or not, I am just honest is all. Your comment made me smile though, thanks:)

    This is NY.
NYS seem liberal, but it's not.
    .
    I don't see it happening.

Re: diamondheart – most men straight or gay are whores. it's called testosterone. still doesn't mean everyone shouldn't have equal rights. by your ridiculous theory only monogamous people should be allowed to wed? well i guess the majority of the NBA won't be walking down the aisle then. if gay people are expected to pay taxes they should it should be expected that they have the same rights. oh and by the way, you're a ignorant fool.

It will never make it through Albany. The state senate will never vote it through. The state assembly maybe but never the senate. Outisde NY City the rest of the state is conservative.

Canada has had same-sex/equal marriage for years now. The sky didn't fall. And yet the US likes to call itself free. Ya, as long as you're not gay, Black, Muslim, poor, Hispanic, etc. etc.

Re: diamondheart – 50% of straight marriages have partners that cheat. Guess you should vote to ban that too. Douche wipe!

  11. 11

Yeah, with all of the problems in this country we should focus on about 5 percent of the population….

Re: diamondheart – It must be nice to hold everyones future in your hands just because you know best. Dumb ass

  14. 14

Peeps lol I don't hate gays, i just state the facts. Look them up, gays (male) don't want to be with just one person in a marriage, but several, a la charlie sheen, that is not a marriage, call it something else. I have nothing against gays, I just speak the truth is all, thruth hurts as they say…..LOL

Re: diamondheart – I dont think a mans monogamy is the issue here, people are just a little unhappy about how flippant you are about just deciding you wont vote for someones elses equal right based on your opinions and in the mean time none of us get to vote whether or not you should have yours. Does that seem fair to you?

I don't know why hes going through all of this - the state assembly is in, just gotta get some votes from the senate - he knows how to play with them, just work that angle - oooooh i see, he wants to make the anti-gay representative look bad in the media - that works too.
