Oprah Responds To Requests To Save Soap Operas

| Filed under: TV NewsOprah Winfrey

Soap opera fans are still upset about the upcoming cancellations of some of their favorite shows.

And when in a time of need, who do they turn to for help? None other than Oprah Winfrey.

Fans inundated Oprah’s website asking Momma O to use her star power to help get the soaps back on the air. Unfortunately for them, Oprah won't can't help.

But she did take some time to record a personal message to share with her fans, explaining the cancellations were due to poor ratings and there was nothing she could do.

Check out her message above!

I agree with oprah 100%. I know a little about advertising sales. Saleskeep the show going..the network would pay for actors,locations,props..etc.If you're not getting a revenue returning for the show..show..dah…the show is not going to last long..but folks..I imagine how oprah gonna ge would get slamed when she goes off the air.she cant save the causes..you get out there to the advertisers…money talks..

What I don't think Oprah is taking into consideration is that ABC had Brian Frons as head of ABC daytime and he deliberately hired writers and micromanaged them TO DESTROY THE SOAPS!

Wait until it happens to you, Big O. The fans will turn their backs on you, too.

I pity the fool that tries to cancel Days Of Our Lives! LOL!

Mindless superficial drivel. Although the people are dumbed down nowadays to the point where they think "bananas" is spelled "banana's", the fact is soaps have run their course and it's time for them to disappear. It's the demise of newspapers that I find disturbing and rather sad.

The fat bitch doesn't care and can't do anything anyway.

I was also praying to Oprah for fair weather.

The cancellations are indirectly related to poor ratings but directly related to poor, agenda driven writing.

I would like to first mention that its a sad day when soap operas are said to run their course but reality shows still prevail as do night time soaps such as desperate housewives, greys anatomy and tru blood (which are all soaps) also if people would just check the ratings for the soap operas they would see that OLTL is the number 3 soap opera and is constantly under budget, it does make money for ABC as a matter of fact Brian Frons admitted that he spent what money the show made on replacement shows for OLTL not AMC which was favored over OLTL for absolutely no reason other than his friend was the writer at the time.
