Teen Dad Says 16 And Pregnant Mom Got Pregnant For The Show

We were afraid something like this was going to happen.

Josh Smith, the teen dad accused of domestic violence against his baby momma and fellow 16 and Pregnant star, Jennifer Del Rio, is saying that Jennifer got pregnant on purpose so that she could be on the MTV reality show.

He's requested a restraining order against her, claiming that she's a "compulsive liar" and concocted a scheme to get herself pregnant. According to Josh, Jennifer told him that he didn't need to wear a condom because she was already knocked up.

WTF?!

He explains:

"She was giving me sonogram pictures … that she claimed was 'our baby' when in actually [sic] it was her friend's sonogram pictures she was copying. She lied to me and my parents for 3 months saying she was pregnant. She wanted so desperately to be on 16 and Pregnant."

Wow. We have…no words. Whether or not he's telling the truth, this couple definitely needs help. And a reality show isn't the remedy to their problems.

We just hope their baby can somehow grow up in a stable environment.

    No surprise there.

  2. 2

While I don't doubt some teen girls would get pregnant just to be on a show, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that anyone getting heat for domestic violence will say anything to deflect blame and attention from themselves. I wouldn't trust this guy further than I could throw him!

  3. 3

The TV producers should be ashamed if themselves for promoting this awful behavior and unleashing this trash on the public. Instead of highlighting these bimbos why not do a show 16 and NOT pregnant or maybe 16 and already in college preparing to become a valuable member of society?? 90% of this trash needs to have their kids taken away from them!

  4. 4

This show should be canceled. It celebrates stupid teens who mostly got knocked up on one night stands or were in relationships for a few months before getting pregnant. IOW, sluts. Most of the teen moms are borderline retarded and have personality or mental disorders. Few thought of putting their children up for adoption when there are so many good homes/couples waiting years to adopt a child. I don't know of any of the teen moms who have used the money they got from MTV to go to college towards getting a 4 year degree. Instead, the money is wasted on boob jobs, new cars, clothes, vacations, etc.

Not really a surprise. MTV once a voice for youth is now its corruptor. Its days of exciting boundary pushing and music are long gone. They are now the purveyor of shit, fake, staged, unreality TV, who get into the lives of kids, stage it and ruin them. They are a disgrace

Re: CuddlyCarla – She was arrested for domestic violence for beating him as well, reguardless they are both faboosh role models they better better save for that higher education that kid will aspire to. Raise your hand if this shocks you?

  7. 7

Re: poodlewithamohawk – What good does a higher education do if you're flat chested? Geez…
    (read sarcastically) :)

Re: Kimberbunny – They already have a show like that. It's called Sweet 16. Instead of it being about a 16 year old having a hard time coping with pre/post pregnancy, it's about spoiled as hell teenagers attempting to throw the party of the year for their 16th birthday.

My mum got pregnant with me when I was 17 and she went on to go to university, get a degree and a job, send me to private school and I'm now at one of the most prestigious universities in the UK. I wish they would show some teenage mothers who are responsible, caring young women. They do exist but they just keep pushing these crazy people because they're more entertaining.

  10. 10

First of all, people who say this show "promotes" pregnancy are dumb… because these girls have HORRIBLE lives, it's almost painful to watch… Since the show has been on the air, teen pregnancy has DECREASED. I don't think there's any connection, just saying. I do think one or two psycho's would try to get pregnant for the fame… but in reality, there have always been young girls who think pregnancy will solve their relationship problems/make their lives better.. and there always will be. If nothing else, at least now they have a way to see the TRUTH about teen pregnancy. Incidentally, this kid is a fucking liar… sooo she was pregnant for 12 months and no one noticed? Not to mention, if they did, they obviously weren't THAT mad seeing as they ALL, including him, signed releases and got paid to be on the show. This guy is just trying to justify the way he's treated this girl… pathetically grabbing at straws. BTW, I'm not saying this show is a GOOD thing.. most reality shows aren't positive… BUT it just makes me laugh when people say it encourages pregnancy without having done ANY research on the matter or so much as watching an episode. Teen pregnancy has decreased over the past 5 years… That's really all there is to say.

  11. 11

Throughout the show all you see is the girls losing all their friends, getting kicked out of their houses, living in poverty, having to give up college plans, having to work several jobs, dead beat dads, taking dead beat dads to court, losing custody of their kids because they can't afford them, not being able to finish high school, being so miserable they have to go on meds… etc… And the one girl who actually has a wealthy family who helps her out a LOT has a HORRIBLE mentally abusive boyfriend. I think out of all 8 girls they've had on the two seasons.. Only one has actually had a positive life that didn't change TOO drastically after the pregnancy.. And even her, she still doesn't have time to go to college AND has a dead beat baby daddy who treats her like shit. I feel bad for the girls ON the show, and feel theyre being exploited, but they signed off AND got paid so that's between them and God. I really just don't see how it promotes pregnancy to anyone who wasn't stupid enough that they probably would've gotten pregnant anyway (not saying all preg. teens are stupid)… If I watched this show when I was 16.. it would scare the ever loving shit out of me… I probably would stay a virgin til marriage. In a nutshell, any girl who would get pregnant to be on TV, is sick enough that she would've done it for attention anyway, WITHOUT the TV show… just to look… however she thinks it makes her look… to her schoolmates and community & get attention.

  12. 12

Thiss is ridiculous! I knew eventually these little slutty idiots would be getting pregnant on purpose to be on the show! But just because the girls on the seasons after season 1 are probably just attention seeking idiots, doesnt mean everyone should bash all the other girls because some of them are actually good parents, like Maci, Catelynn, Chelsea and Leah.

  13. 13

Re: hocus pocus – EXACTLY! how are all you dumbass idiots sitting here saying that this show PROMOTES teen pregnancy? WHY on gods green earth, besides the fact that there are stupid little girls who think they will become famous and rich off of it, would anyone want to go through what half of these girls go through? almost EVERY single girl is no longer with the baby's father, they have lost their entire educations, they are poor, kicked out, and struggling with the decisions they have made. Its not MTV's fault that there are fucking moronic little sluts out here that think getting pregnant at 12 will get them on a tv show. that wasnt the point of the show, the point was to show how HARD it is to be a teen mom.

  14. 14

Re: ka.06 – Are you capable of reading and understanding English???? I'm suggesting a show that highlights young women doing POSITIVE things with their lives. I'm sick of all these reality trash heaps thinking that because they're on TV they're special.

  15. 15

Re: LagunaBarbie44 – And all these girls see is the magazine covers and the money and TV time. They don't consider that they will be creating a human life out of stupidity and selfishness. It doesn't matter if they had a show showing the babies getting taken away at the end of every season (They totally should) these kids are brought up to see reality TV as a goal to reach. Fame for nothing. I feel sorry for all those poor children born to these trashy little whores.

  16. 16

Re: Kimberbunny – lols! and thx for the giggles to those of you smarties who doesn't think this promotes teen preggos among the disenfranchised and then go on to defend that u r a hoot, I bet your good at dinner parties too, tight on

  17. 17

there just all redneck white trash and they all live by me, and dumb as rocks

  18. 18

Season one of 16 & pregnant was interesting. Seeing girls from different backgrounds getting pregnant and seeing them make the choices they make. Every season after that just got trashier and the girls kept getting dumber. But MTV is too money hungry to see that this show and the girls on it are nothing but a huge joke now. Poor babies are the ones to suffer with their retarded underage parents

  19. 19

That makes no sense…she timed her pregnancy to fit a production schedule…something tells me she's not smart enough to manage that.

  20. 20

I believe it. Leah and Corey got married because MTV said they wouldn't be invited back on Teen Mom 2 if they didn't get back together. This show is throwing money at teens for their bad behaviour and out of wedlock kids. Their kids will likely either be in prison or teen mom's themselves, thus continuing the cycle of the underclass and poverty.

  21. 21

Amber Portwood made over $300,000 in income last year. Maci is trying to get famous by getting on Dancing with the Stars like Bristol Palin did, another stupid teenage mother. That's more than enough incentive for these stupid girls without even a GED to deliberately get pregnant.

  22. 22

    what's the surprise about that?

  23. 23

Re: JeeksBeak – u mean when she was 17 right? not when you were? lol! sorry

  24. 24

MTV should be ashamed — making money off sad lives and promoting it.

This show needs to go, and the only way to do that is not watch it — unfortunately a high majority of the people in this country are undereducated and stupid and will continue to watch. So MTV needs to take the high road and not air such crap. But they won't. It's all very sickening what the entertainment industry will do to make a buck.

  25. 25

Re: hocus pocus – She made her life worse by getting pregnant on purpose. Yes they have horrible lives (who's life is perfect anyways?) but why spread your legs instead of a text book and gain some knowledge? I don't understand that. I can't feel bad for people that intentionally put themselves in stupid situations, age is no excuse and yes some of us have done stupid things but these girls take it to the next level.

  26. 26

    Slut.

  27. 27

Well with every wish there comes a curse . . . She got her wish and is on the show and now she has the curse of a lifetime struggling to provided for a child when she has little education or money. Hope she enjoys and dude is just an idiot for not wearing a condom which obviously he didnt if he thought the sonogram pictures were their kid and he didnt question it. Stupid is as stupid does and these two clearly deserve each other!

  28. 28

This is a guy who is pissed at his ex for having him arrested so can you really believe anything he says? plus anyone who would get pregnant for tv probibly would have done it anyway because they think babies are cute and fun to have but done realize how much time and work goes into being a parent

  29. 29

Re: poodlewithamohawk – " Most of the teen moms are borderline retarded and have personality or mental disorders" Where is your proof about this statment? Most teen moms are just girl who didnt have safe sex and now have to deal with the consequences. ANd anther thing it's not fair to call them "stupid" or "slut". You dont know how many partners they have had.

  30. 30

Re: UhYeah – As opposed to not getting pregnant on purpose? There's no such thing as an "accidental" pregnancy today with condoms, birth control and the morning after pill…and oh yeah maybe not having sex @15 would have helped too.Maybe these pregancies were "unwanted" but they didn't "accidentally" fall on some guys dick who "accidentally" wasn't wearing a condom.Jennifer scheming or not just makes her the worse of the evils.
@Hocus Pocus, I agree and disagree. Yes the pregnancy rate is down so we can't blame Teen Mom for all girls getting pregnant, and while it shows how brutal their lives are, the fact some are getting paid as much as the PRESIDENT only reflects where our priorities are in the world. Who would want to become a teacher, doctor, policeman when they can be rewarded by acting like a retard?

  31. 31

Re: sexyjade08 – Right so they all just so happened to get pregnant their first time with the same partner?? Sorry I would aruge that any girl or guy under 17 having repeated unprotected sex is indeed stupid slut behaviour.

  32. 32

He wouldn't be the first bitter father to write a fiction novel for the sake of the Court.

  33. 33

As a former teenage father myself, I can't stand this show. Yes, it DOES glamorize teenage parenthood. It says "You can be TV. You're INTERESTING!". The dads come off looking like a-holes when some of it could be clever editing. The moms look horribly irresponsible. Really, an 16 year old could identify with all of that and figure that they could do all that too since they're holding themselves up to an adult idea of things. I'm 30 now and have a great 13 year old son whom I have custody of. I sacrificed a lot — including being able to concentrate on a decent formal education, but I don't raise my son with government handouts. I have worked 2 jobs, nearly always 7 days a week for the past 8 years for my money and everything we've got and I want my child to see that. I suspect a select few, if any, of those parents would ever do that.

  34. 34

THAT SHE DID IT DELIBERATELY DOESNT SURPRISE ME. THAT IS TYPICAL HISPANIC BEHAVIOR

  35. 35

    Toxic Trash

i really appreciated the show in the first and second season because i thought it was something refreshing from MTV. it looked like a show to take a lesson from and it definitely made me thing twice about sex and being safer. but since the third season and the girls popularity i could tell something like this would happen. its a shame but u cant blame MTV because they didnt chose this. its the dumb girls that would be stupid enough to get knocked up and commit to a life long thing just for an hour on TV. its a damn shame the society we live in today. but stop blaming MTV its not their fault, it was actually a good show that could make a difference.

Re: JeeksBeak – I know many children of teen parents that were smart and finished school and raised their children in a stable household. The reason they're not on the show is no smart person would want to have cameras follow them around for a year and all the stupid fame and publicity that ensues. Only these stupid, slutty country girls WANT to be on this show.

  39. 39

If I have to hear about one more guy being "TRICKED" into getting a girl knocked up, I may puke. If you don't want a baby it's called A CONDOM. Use it & I assure you there will be no trickery w/ b.c. pills or diaphrams. It's so simple. Tricked- please!
And for the record, can any of us believe that these kids are still screwing w/out protection in this day & age? Just sickening. And, oh ya, let's glorify it on TV & make them stars! Good idea!

  40. 40

Girls who intentionally get pregnant for the purpose of getting on an MTV show are the kinds of girls who think any kind of attention - negative or positive - is a good thing. How about MTV have a show that has girls like this receiving therapy?!?

  41. 41

Re: JeeksBeak – your mom got pregnant with you when you were 17? cool story, bro.

  42. 42

    Wow this poor child!

  43. 43

Re: Kimberbunny – seriously. How many girls have been on this show? They have like eight "16 and Pregnant" girls and then they widdle it down to four "Teen Moms" and isn't there "Baby High"? What the f*ck.

  44. 44

Re: guninmyhead – I have no idea. I like my IQ above 12 so I don't watch that trash.

  45. 45

Re: poodlewithamohawk – you couldnt have said it better

  46. 46

its the mosy annoying show and thing to see in today's society this is where my tax dollars go teen mothers that cant wait to have a stable job and life.

hey MTV go follow a college student trying to improve their lives and the lives of others and how damn hard it is.

  47. 47

    IT TAKES 2 TO TANGO

  48. 48

Im pretty sure no one is surprised by the idea that teens would get pregnant just to be on this show. This show is a fantastic trainwreck with a caboose full of viewers who are just waiting for it to derail. Why are we making celebraties out of teenagers who make really really bad choices? And Im not talking just the pregnancy. But lets talk about ALL of Jenells bad behaviors? The fact that there is a show dedicated to them encourages teens these days to fall into line. As the saying goes, bad publicity is often times better then good publicity. So teens these days are idolizing THESE girls. They want to be in the public eye, and they want to be making some of the money these girls are. I think it's a totally fantastic idea to celebrate an alarming social epidemic that is not only ruining teens lives, but the children they are having. Do you know what the statistics are for babies born to teen parents in regards to abuse, poverty, and ending up in the welfare system or (now a days) in the care of their grandparents? But despite the statistics, lets celebrate this, continue to make celebraties out of these girls, and keep the epidemic going! Great job, MTV.

  49. 49

oh well. i wouldnt even believe that guy though after the bs he pulled anyway. what irritated me the most is having to watch him speed around in the rain with two new borns in his car … that's total child endangerment.

this girl is so lost if she even thinks of staying with him any longer.

about the show: ive been watching since 2nd season and ive seen nothing that would glamourize getting pregnant at 16. its all pretty sad and to be honest i watch the show to feel better about my hardships sometimes just having a kid at 27. its hard enough being in college still though im married and get to stay at home… i still find the responsibility and energy involved with raising a child as very difficult.

all in all i think it shows a dark side to pregnancy and if anything it should encourage teens to have safer sex.

i do wish though that theyd have a show or season of girls who got pregnant and opted for abortion instead to show that life isnt over when you get an abortion and how much better their lives are in comparison to the other teen moms we've seen- how they can go on and finish hs and go to prom and enroll in college etc.
