Done Deal! Javier Bardem Will Star In The Dark Tower!

Welcome to the franchise biz, Bardem!

In what will surely be considered one of the biggest deals this year, Javier Bardem has officially signed on to star in the movie and TV adaptations of Stephen King's Dark Tower. As Ron Howard's first choice for the role, this is a enormous deal for everyone involved and with Javier in place, production on the first movie should begin this September.

Thing is, so far, Javier's contract only has him confirmed for the first movie (three are planned) and the mini-series. We suppose that should this project not blow up like everyone assumes it will, after the first two installments, the studio will cut it's losses and move on.

We doubt that will happen, though. The series has a pretty deep and devoted fan base. No doubt Javier will be locked in for the other two movies shortly after the first reigns supreme at the box-office.

Congrats, Javier!

Javier Bardem, really? Couldn't they find someone with more appeal? This guy is quite a mutt.

really??What happen to the blue eyes.I know they can use contacts, but not who I would have chosen.nothing againt Javier, but I don't like it at all….I have a feeling that they are going to kill this for the fans. Please prove me wrong!

I wanted Viggo Mortensen. But Javier is a good also. Ron Howard is an ok director, but I am not sure he can handle this material. Anyway it turns out I can not see this being to successful. It's appeal is limited to a certain demographic.

He will live and breathe the part. This is an excellent choice. He can make it happen. Maybe not the first choice but an incredible one none the less.

This is going to be a very hard job to do. Good luck to try and tell this like it needs and deserves to be told. Stephen King is so complex I'm nervous it won't get the attention to detail it needs. I do think Javier is a great choice. Will be interested to see who else is casted.

I really don't think it's one of the cleverest decisions ever made. I'm a huge fan, and this cast choice is, for me, strange and curious. He even doesn't look like Roland (where are the blue eyes?). Regrettable.

hey, now that you earn in dollars, fix those basty 5 year old teefs, put some nice white and shiny fake chiclets on

When is she gonna dump this guy. Granted he's a great actor, but really, Penelope? I'd MUCH rather see you dating Paz Vega :)

They have already ruined the movie by casting Javier Bardem as Roland. He is so NOT Roland….on another note…I really despise when they take great WRITTEN stories and try to make them into movies…there is always something lost in translation…and it is usually something vital to the story. In this case, having read The Dark Tower series 3 times now, I am personally not going to watch the movies or the mini-series as I know that they will not do the story justice. There is so much detail in the books that it will be impossible to capture it all in 3 movies….my question is this though…why did they make, what is it, 7 Harry Potter movies to capture that story, yet they are going to try and condense this story into 3 movies? and yes, I know they are also doing a mini-series on tv…but there is NO way they will be able to tell the story the way it deserves to be told. Actually it has already been told the way it was supposed to be told…ON PAPER! Hollywood always has to step in and ruin a good thing! I highly recommend that people READ the books and skip the movie if you want the real experience. Sorry Opie….won't be seeing this one.

Javier Bardem was first choice?! I thought fans wanted Christian Bale/Viggo…
