The new Twilight has added another start to its roster.

Elizabeth Banks has just confirmed via her Twitter that she has been cast to play Effie Trinket in the upcoming tween blockbuster, Hunger Games.

Alongside Liam Hemsworth, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth's character is a pink-haired escort for District 12, who is a stickler for manners and a bit a of an airhead.

Congrats! It's going to be a big deal, we can already tell!

Thoughts? Was she who U had in mind for the parts, Mockingjays???

HOW DARE YOU CALL "THE HUNGER GAMES" THE NEW "TWILIGHT"! THG is actually a series of substance, where the female lead is like a badass gladiator who leads a revolution, despite the guys that happen to be vying for her affection. It's not some poorly written attempt at a romance. If anything, it's much closer to a Harry Potter type of fandom.
On that note, I think Elizabeth Banks is going to be great as Effie.

Wow, she is perfect for that part. She can be so chipper sometimes.
And I agree with the previous comment- the Hunger Games rocks far more than Twilight ever could.

I think she is really good actually.

Are you trying to be funny by comparing this to twilight! What ever you mean by it is a stupid comment. Hopefully these movies will be much better then Twilight. Twilight movies are horrible.

She is PERFECT for the part. I am SO excited for this movie, they are amazing books.

Don't offend people by comparing The Hunger Games to Twilight. They are nothing alike and Suzanne Collins is a far superior writer than Stephenie Meyer.

I love her. I always wanted Katy perry for the part, but I love elizabeth banks.

Please do NOT call the "Hunger Games" the new Twilight. Its writing is far better and has better character development.

    "Hunger Games" will rival HP.

now they just need to score John C. Reilly for Haymitch and we will be good to go!!!

OMG i can't believe you compared THG to that Twilight trash!!! THG is so much better than that.

Right when I saw the title of this post, I knew she'd be cast as Effie! She's perfect for the role. The only casting that I agree with so far.

This whole movie has down down the drain when they cast Josh Hutcherson as Peeta and LAME Hemsworth as Gale. HUGE mistake

First of all…. The Hunger Games is an absolutely amazing book series. The Twilight series was one as well until the movies came out. The Twilight series became a joke after the moves came out.

The casting for the Hunger Games is ridiculous.
Katniss is supposed to resemble Gale (both are supposed to be dark haired with grey eyes) NEITHER CAST HAVE EITHER FEATURES. And Peeta is supposed to be light haired and tall (the kid cast isn't either)!!!

I've attempted to upload a comment but this website is being dumb.

  16. 16

    That was seriously insulting.

The Hunger Games is nothing like Twilight nor will it ever be.

I've been DYING to read the books. No pun intended. Ok, maybe a little. A friend of mine gave me a description of them and I absolutely MUST get my hands on them soon. I'm excited about the movie as well. I don't see how it's remotely related to Twilight…. Twilight, while I enjoyed it to a certain extent (not my favorite all time movie and not the best out there), has a totally different storyline.

I think she'll be great but I still think Kristen Chenowerth was born to be Effie. P.S. Petta and Gale casting= the bull shit, even just reversing there roles would be an improvement.

  19. 19

    Yay, she will be great!

SHE IS SO LUCKY. AVERAGE HILLBILLY LOOKING, 40 YEARS OLD, PLAIN JANE. WOW.
