Tony Blair Is Totally Cool With Royal Wedding Snub

tony blair gets snubbed by royal wedding

Hey, the Obamas weren't invited either…

Tony Blair has opened up about not being invited to the royal wedding, and he's made it clear that he's not offended.

Here's what he had to say about it:

"I'm delighted for the royal couple. It is completely sensible to invite people from different walks of life instead of politicians. [I'm] absolutely not [offended] at all. It's not an issue and I wish them every happiness."

While Tony's being very mature about his snub, former Labor foreign secretary Jack Straw believes he should have gotten an invite:

"My guess is that, reviewing the way the guest list has worked, the decision-makers probably would have made some different decisions in respect of former prime ministers."

And here's what politician Michael Dugher had to say about it:

"The palace keeps saying this is a private wedding but it's a national celebration. There should be extraordinary sensitivity in relation to the invitations."

Okay, so maybe it would have been nice if he had been invited. Nice to see he's not bitter about it though.

Way to take the high road, Tony! We give you lots of credit for that!

Do U think Tony Blair should have been invited to the royal wedding?

P.S. Be sure to watch Perez as he hosts with Nene Leakes "Will + Kate Forever," the only royal wedding special worth seeing, airing tonight, April 29th at 7pm/6c on Wedding Central and also at 9pm/8c on WE tv.

He's an ass. Thats why he wasn't invited.

  2. 2

What about Former Prime Minister Brown? Mario? You did not include him. but Former Prime Ministers John Majors and Margaret Thatcher were! (Thatcher is too ill to attend anything) The CURRENT PRIME MINISTER WAS INVITED and THAT IS WHAT IS IMPORTANT… The thing is, you start inviting some.. you have to invite THEM ALL!!! and Blair, Brown, they are from the Labor party, obviously not in favor with the palace. This is a private party anyway MARIO, so why, AS USUSAL ARE YOU TRYING TO MAKE TROUBLE? This is not the Queen's wedding, it is HER GRANDSON'S WEDDING…. HOW BIG SHOULD THIS THING SHOULD HAVE BEEN???????????????????????????????

  3. 3

Wait I thought they did invite the Obamas.

  4. 4

and before you start with OBAMA AGAIN, the PALACE invited ROYALTY-probably RELATED SOMEHOW, OR AT ONE POINT……. and invited heads of Countries that were Ruled by Great Britain, or recently gave that up. (the over 200 year thing didn't meet the cut, besides the Obamas SUCK AS PRESENT GIVERS-an IPOD to the Queen with pics of her trip here, a set of DVDs of Westerns for the PM not in their format-like they don't get movies over there? AND shortly after getting into office, he GAVE BACK A GIFT OF A BUST OF WINSTON CHURCHILL! YES, the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wanted gifts of donations to charities, BUT Obama would probably donate to his OWN CAMPAIGN!)

he was very tight with his Mom, if it really was a "small" wedding then leaving him out would be ok but an event of this size to leave him off , says the Queen is still pissed at him

    Yellow teef

  7. 7

The Royals don't like the Labour party!
They prefer the Conservative party, that's why serveral ex-conservative leaders got invited!!

    Dude, whiten your teeth!

  9. 9

..hey buddy, ever heard of crest whitening strips ????

  10. 10

His skin and teeth are yellow. Hope he is okay. If he is, then he needs to invest in a whitening tooth paste.

he should have been invited, and the Obamas. It wasn't that private, royals from other countries that have never been in the same room as will or kate. There was a whole section of politicians there, all seated near each other. But i dont blame will and kate, the queen took them off the list when she was approving it, but left kanye west on. wtf

No. One article stated that Blair had spoken with William privately more than once after the death of his mother, and then Blair published some of Will's private thoughts in his book. If so, he had no right to do that, and it's a huge betrayal of trust. Word is that William exluded him.

'excluded.' Spell much, and too quick to hit submit.

  14. 14

Thatcher was invited so I can't see why he and the other LABOUR Prime Minister Gordon Brown weren't invited yet the Tories were…

Re: @v@ – Interesting!!!! Cool info!!!

  16. 16

The Obamas weren't invited because a. William isn't an heir to the throne and b. Michele has spoken ill of Diana.

  17. 17

Why should the Obamas have been invited?!?!?! The USA isn't even part of the Commonwealth.

  18. 18

Very bad form not to invite Blair or Brown. Celebs and not former prime ministers? Bad bad form.

Re: kittendom – It was Wills and Kate's wedding, and as such, is considered a private affair, and not a state occasion. Will and Kate drew up the guest list. Streaming it was basically good P.R. plus magnanimity.

Re: iloverickymartin – The claim was alleged by a British Historian on Sky News in a debate on the Monarchy. There's more, and it's all over the net, but try MyFoxMemphis, 'Historian: Prince Vetoes Tony Blair Wedding Invite' if you want the rest of the lengthy allegations.
