| Filed under: Reese WitherspoonFilm FlickersLudacrisVin DieselRobert Pattinson

Be prepared for many more Fast & Furious movies!

The fifth movie in the series opened up this weekend with a whopping $83.6 million.

It was the biggest April opening ever and is definitely the biggest movie of the year so far.

And it's gonna keep making more money. The movie is expected to gross $165 million worldwide for the first ten days of its international release.

The animated film Rio came in second with $14.4 million, which is down 45% in its third week.

Coming in third was Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family with $10.1 million in its second weekend.

Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon's Water for Elephants made $9.1 million and came in fourth place.

Rounding out the top five was Disney's Prom with a pretty weak opening of $5 million.

So…what did U see this weekend??

And you said they shouldn't have made it. Nice call, Mario.

I saw it Friday night.. it was the first film since the first fast and the furious movie that was just as good… not an intellectual movie… but that's not always what people look for..

i think disney should be slapped for making a movie about prom, and its not even a realist prom. its corny and fake and shouldnt have been made into a movie

The point and goal of the FastFive is to make money and show good action….DONE. The point of Water For Elephants was maybe not the same but the movie sucked…..Robert Pattinson seriously looked gay and did not deliver……thank God I read the book and can continue to love the story. Damn Reese, talk to your fucking manager about your script choices (do not work with hapless and by-the-nite actors)! Pay ATTENTION!

I saw the movie on Friday night at the IMAX and loved it, so did my friend. I would sit through it again :) As someone else said not exactly an intellectual type film, but filled with loads of action and hot guys!

I saw Water for Elephants and Robert Pattinson was great and I really enjoyed the movie. Perez, you didn't mention that Water for Elephants is also in its second week and it's doing very well.

Re: pie107 – 9 million is just what it made in its second weekend in US box office. It's already made over 40 million in just 10 days at the box office and it's still going strong. And it's still opening in many international markets. It has already made back it's budget.

Water for Elephants is for people who like to come out of a movie feeling like they've learned something. Fantastic film and has done absolutely brilliantly with both audience reviews and box office numbers especially for a romantic drama. Fast Five is for those who just like brainless entertainment. It is also a brilliant movie if you like that kind of thing. I like it for what it is.
