    I didn't bother watching that stupid wedding. Who the hell cares? Kate is so average looking. A lot of my friends even think she's ugly. William has been losing his hair for years. He's got a huge bald spot. Those two are the ugliest royal couple ever. Harry & Chelsy are better looking than them.

One hour of reading would be all you'd need to see the mountain of work these people actually do. It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt .

Please do share your "unstaged" wedding photos so we can comment. The couple actually had an official photographer as well as a family friend who took photos (unstaged) for their personal album. To quote Wikipedia re the Commonwealth of Nations and the Queen's role in it "The symbol of this free association is Queen Elizabeth II, known for this purpose as Head of the Commonwealth. This position, however, does not imbue her with any political or executive power over any Commonwealth member states; the position is purely symbolic.." Got it… purely symbolic. I live in Australia, a nation in the British Commonwealth. Let me assure you no member of the Royal family has any input into the Government of Australia. Why would they? Sorry if it ruffles your feathers but IMHO the notion of inherited royal titles and privileges is obscene. It is medieval. What justification in the 21st century can there be for perpetuating this nonsense when there are so many people throughout the world, even in the UK itself, who are living at or below the poverty line?

I really dislike people who don't do their proper research and just label the Royals as 'freeloaders,' when the combination of money brought in by tourism/taxes on their many estates/influence/and general taxes (Yes, the Queen pays tax) actually PROFIT the UK, not drain it… And you're comment is like saying that YOU can't work because you're 'obviously' always on Perezhilton/bitching/picking fights or whatever your hobbies are. They actually do a LOT of charity work, and Prince Charles had over 400 official engagements ALONE in 2010 - which would be quite the task.

    4 quick points:
    1. You may denigrate the Wikipedia quote but have said nothing to dispute its factual truth - the Queen IS a ceremonial figurehead and perfectly unnecessary in the actual government of Commonwealth nations including Australia. Hence the call by many Australian citizens for an Australian Republic.
    2. I did not label the Royals 'freeloaders'. That is a term you have introduced to the debate inadvertently undermining your own case, but it is apt.
    3. The tourist dollars would continue to flow even if the Monarchy ceased to exist. People including many non-Catholics continue to visit the Vatican even though orthodox religious practice is in decline in the West.
    4. Amusingly, in your posts you have backtracked from claiming the Royals do mountains of actual work in the administration and Government of Commonwealth countries (Wrong - that's what Parliaments are for) to now doing mountains of CHARITY work - cutting ribbons etc. (Correct). If you think I am stupid and my research is sub-par please point me to your sources of this misunderstanding.
