| Filed under: TV NewsBarack Obama

CNN number one on sunday

Sunday nights stunning news of Osama bin Laden's death boosted CNN to #1, outperforming rivals like MSNBC and Fox News Channel.

Sorry FOX, you guys just didn't cut it last night! Mostly because the large majority of your viewers go to sleep at 6pm. LOLz!

CNN was the most-watched news channel Sunday night with 7.8 million viewers during the 11pm hour when President Obama officially announced bin Laden’s death, while Fox News delivered 4.8 million and MSNBC had 2.3 million.

Between 10pm and 3am, CNN still won out with 4.1 million viewers compared to 2.8 million for Fox News and 1.6 million for MSNBC, making Sunday CNN's best performance in these hours since Election Night 2008.

Which of those networks do U watch for your news?

I watched it on CNN from 11:30 until about 2am when I turned it to MSNBC.

CNN is all over this because they are going to start the early campaigning for Obama to get re-elected. They think this is his "ticket" - FORGET IT! This was a mission started before he was elected - and everything else he is fudging up will not be forgotten. CNN - Puh leaze!

WHO REALLY CARES???? it really do not matter to the MAJORITY OF US, just infantile people like YOU MARIO! I did not find out, until the NEXT DAY, I WAS READING and listening to music…. and when I found out in the morning.. NOTHING HAPPENED TO ME!

I'm just glad FAUX NEWS was NOT #1!!! On the bottom, it read Obama Bin Laden is dead…. Oh thats just great a true news channel. Ill stick with CNN and MSNBC for sure.

They said they buried Osama's body at sea.
Hopefully, they kept his HEAD and will put it on a pike on Ground Zero.

First of all, no one watches MSNBC, so that channel isn't even relevant. Oh and I watched it on FOX News, and I'm 19 and don't go to bed at 6 PM, so sue me :)

yes, perez, there are people who have to get up early to work. (like me, a 23 year old teacher) It doesn't mean that all fox news viewers are old…just functioning members of society

OMG..ONE night? Stop the presses?? Shouldn't the bigger news be that Fox's ratings are higher the other 364 days of the year?

    Re: maaayhem
    Dear maaayhem,
I'm more than sorry that you have to be paying attention to the mess America is in, because of the negligence by my generation (60).
We were busy with our lives and took our liberties for granted.
Just want you to know, we're all paying attention now, and will do everything in our power to make it right before we die.
Just volunteered to help the local Teaparty.
I've never volunteered for anything in my entire life.
Figured I should be paid for my work.
We will go Red Dawn if need be, to make it right for our children and grandchildren.
    Just wanted you to know.
    Thank you for paying attention.

Perez, get real. Like anggirl said- 364 other days of the year Fox News WINS, so really, what is the story here?? Also, contemplate this: the reason that they DO WIN is because the majority of their viewership is NOT old. See how that all makes sense? Oh wait, of course not - common sense and facts elude liberals like you.

Fuck FOX News as a staff, TV station and as a whole mothafuckin crew. And if you wanna be down with Fox News, FUCK YOU TOO! :)

CNN is the only place that practices journalism anymore. FOX is where failed reality stars go to die, and where cults go to worship impotent fat old men who violently spew opinions disguised as facts. CNN is for the normal, the sane, and those who are intelligent enough to know the difference between fact and opinion.

    Re: luvs2tango

Shhh, my baby. I was just saying not everyone who watches FOX is 60 years old as Perez joked trying to cough up some laughs. I watch FOX News, but I check the facts for myself just like everyone should — no matter what news channel they tune into. Honestly, if you think I'm going to watch Chris Matthews say he had a feeling down his thigh when Obama spoke, than you've got the wrong girl! Anyway, it's almost like that saying where if you're not a liberal when you're 25, you have no heart. And if you aren't a conservative by 40, you aren't rich. I don't know, there's so many different spin-offs to that quote, but it's ridiculous. And it's no specific generation's fault/person for the slump we are in. It's been a group effort. Don't you fret, whoever you are! :o )

I keep it parked at CNN baby! Because I love Anderson Cooper. Glad this monster is gone. I was rocked as I watched it Sunday! CNN did an amazing job. Just sayin…

  19. 19

I hope this means people are finally accepting of the fact that Fox News is major crap. It's stupid opinions, not news.

    Re: maaayhem
First of all, tons of people wathch MSNBC. Doesn't suprise me you watch fox. good luck with that. Hopefully since you're just 19 you'll grow up soon.

Re: jcrhode – Fox does a much better job on their web news. They can't be as partisan or editorialize ad nauseum as well in print.
