SPOILER ALERT - We're going to be talking about next week's prom episode. It would be wise not to read any further unless you want to know what happens.
It's been quite a year for Trevor Donovan. If you ask us, he's played a HUGE part in keeping 90210 on the air. His character's coming out storyline was the talk of the town for several weeks and the buzz generated from that aided in getting the show picked up for another season. But next season will be very different for the kids of West Bev.
For one thing, they won't be in high school anymore. Like so many teen dramas that have come before it, 90210 is jumping ship and throwing their characters into the deep waters of adulthood. That's usually the kiss of death with these kinds of shows, but Trevor isn't too worried. He suggests that because the show is also going into a monumental creative change (by this season's end, series showrunner Rebecca Sinclair will be stepping down), the show might take on a whole new life in this new chapter. He explains:
“Because the whole crew’s going off, and we’re all finishing our high school careers, there’ll be changes everywhere.”
Inneresting. We wonder where real-life will take Teddy Montgomery?
Before we get too deep into that, there are still some milestones that have to be addressed first this season- like prom! Next week, the kiddies of West Bev will have their super-secretly themed big night to remember and while Trevor wouldn't divulge any details about the theme, he did offer up this:
“Teddy ends up taking Marco…It’s become a very acceptable thing. So it’s actually a very positive episode."
That's what we LIVE to hear! We're so pleased to hear there are positive characters on TV for gay teens to look to and see that its okay to be just the way they are! Faboosh!
