Contestant Comes Out To Father Before Singing On The Voice!

| Filed under: TV NewsGay Gay GayMusic MinuteInspirationLGBT

So inspirational!

We are so proud of you, Tyler Robinson, for having the courage not only to share your beautiful voice with the nation, but also having the courage to express that you're gay and proud to be, and to finally let your father know!

It might be a stretch from how you described him, but we HOPE that he has been accepting of this news since you dropped it on him. If anything, he has to be proud of you for your singing now that you landed a spot on Blake Shelton's team!!

Watch the video above to see Tyler be absolutely transparent about himself in the package before his audition! It's so touching!!

And then, even though we're getting tired of hearing the song, he comes out and does a great job with Train's Soul Sister and earns his place on Shelton's team!

Good luck in the competition Tyler, and we hope your courage has and will continue to inspire others!

PS: The Voice has FOUR openly gay contestants! Wonderful!

Gay agenda, gay agenda, gay agenda…

  4. 4

Yeah, what should be a private moment shared on national TV. Makes for a great reality TV moment, it's not inspirational. Hey, where's the Gaga video? Still in trouble with the wifey? You'll never see her dick again.

  5. 5

why don't you just give us juicy gossip and quit with your own agenda

  6. 6

Heres the thing, in todays world your parents know when your gay. They might not want to admit it to themselves, might deny that they have suspected from early on that you we !different!, but a parent know. Thank goodness we are heading into a time in our world where being gay isnt such a big deal anymore. And parents can stop lying to themselves.

  7. 7

he did it for the votes. shouldn't something like that be done in private? It's a huge deal to come out to loved ones but you know lets just throw it on national television.

Love how he said being homosexual doesn't define him yet that is all we know of him and he chose to humiliate his father on national television instead of taking the family issue to a more suited private place.

So classy. We should look up to him.

  9. 9

Yes. Yay for the gay singer getting picked by a homophobic country singer. See @blakeshelton 's rewrite of Shania Twain's Any Man of Mine lyrics…

even if he and his dad don't have a great relationship, she should have had a face to face conversation with him in private, instead of humiliating him on national TV. and seriously dude. the fact that there are four openly gay people on this show doesn't make it headlinging news. You need to stick with the juicy gossip, and make another spin off website. Perezgayagenda.com

Oh, how insperational. First off, duh, if he couldn't tell his son liked smokin the pole than he is an idiot. 2nd, i smell pathetic publicity stunt. what a fucking loser.

  12. 12

I commend anyone brave enough to say THIS is who I am whether it be straight, gay, black, white, purple or yellow! Bravo man!

I know it's politically correct to say someone is "straight-acting" but can you say "straight-sounding?" Ha aha…he is really good though. I bet Blake felt funny saying, "you're on my team" after he saw the video. It may work to Tyler's advantage if Blake thinks it could send a message that country music stars aren't homophobic. Everybody should like everybody.

what was the point of doing it on national tv?

if it doesn´t "define" you , why then to "define" yourself only by that in this clip?
he didn´t say anything about himself other than this fact…

  15. 15

oh shit i think i've met him before! very inspiring and brave of him.

  16. 16

Who the hell cares??? It is a singing talent competition, not a sexual preference competition! Stop with the agendas! You are starting to segregate homosexuals from heterosexuals and that is not helping anyone with the real issues!

  17. lerat says – reply to this

If you're all about equal rights for gays then stop whining, the competition is about their voices not their sexual orientation.

  18. 18

Wario is just excited because it's now another guy he can try to (and unsuccessfully) seduce.

  19. 19

Re: Coqi – What makes you think his father felt humiliated? For all you know - his father was proud of his son no matter what. Assuming he was humiliated makes you pretty unclassy yourself.

Re: safetyfalse – WARIO…LMAO so good

  22. 22

Probably came out on national TV because he knew his father would kick his ass. Why is it that we are to know about a person's sexual orientation. I don't care to know if you are a singer, actor, lawyer, tradesperson, or whatever. Nowadays, sexual orientation has to be put in the forefront all the time.

  23. 23

I know that Perez never reads these comments, but I hope there is a chance he'll see this one. I am gay. Always have been. But when I introduce myself to someone I don't start off by saying "Hi, I'm gay." It doesn't define me. It's just like me saying "Hi, I have an above average shoe size". Its a part of who I am, but there is more to me. I am like everyone else not defined by their sexuality.

  24. 24

The people that are saying that Tyler is doing this for a publicity stunt should probably think before you speak. You have no right to say what he is and is not, especially since you don't know him. I know both him, and his family, and I can say that he is one of the kindest men I have ever met. So shove off.

  25. 25

We have a right to think that this is a publicity stunt as Adam made an career from Idol partly because he is gay and a good on stage. Now if you are gay you are cool, so what if someone is straight and proud of it why are they bad people.
All singers are now coming out and saying that they are gay just for publicity and to look cool or whatever, I am straight and proud losers.
