Sad.

Broadway writer and director Arthur Laurents has passed away at age 93.

Laurents wrote the two Broadway hits West Side Story and Gypsy and directed the Tony award-winning play La Cage aux Folles.

He was also known for writing the screenplays to Alfred Hitchcock's Rope and the classic romance, The Way We Were.

He was even involved in the new Universal version of Gypsy.

Laurents died in his sleep.

So sad. He was quite the legend.

He will be greatly missed.

He lived to be 93, died peacefully in his sleep and left behind a legacy of glorious art, while still working. How sad we don't all live that kind of life.

Definitely well said GA. It's the best you can hope for, … to die in your sleep at such an old age.
For awhile there I thought I was seeing some improvement in the grammar and prose on this site, but I'm thinking it was a fluke now. How many of these little blurbs does PH do in a day? 50? That's not a lot of writing. Seems like more thought and proof reading is still lacking here. Dying in your sleep at 93 is not "sad."

I was blown away by West Side Story the first time I saw it.
