Way back in 2008, Full House's Dave Coulier spoke up about Alanis Morissette's legendary breakthrough song You Oughta Know, which was inspired by Uncle Joey himself.

Now, Dave has opened up further about Alanis, and he's had some sweet things to say about her:

"The Alanis I know is really fun to be around and really thoughtful and sweet. I think there’s a lot of things in Jagged Little Pill that are very deep and fueled by her interactions with a lot of people. At the time we were dating, she was writing a lot of music, and I was a newly divorced, single father with a two-year old son. She was living in Ottawa, Canada and I was living in Los Angeles. It was a tough time for me and a lot of distance for a budding relationship. I’ll always think of her as a really great person. As far as being the so-called subject of You Oughta Know…I’ll just let the urban legend folks keep spinning on that one."

Nice words Dave…and it's good to hear from you. Been way too long!

Correct me if I am wrong, but I remember a TV interview where he says it was written about him. Came right out the horse's mouth.

It's just Joey. Not Uncle Joey. You got it dude?

I would LOVE to motorboat her Canadian Rockies!! Put some snow caps on them for her!! Seriously that loser dumped her?? Well maybe she sucked in bed but I doubt it…

    Re: fedup1964

Sucks in bed….highly unlikely considering that in "You Oughta Know" she taunts her ex by wondering whether his replacement woman goes down on him in a theater (the way she apparently did) and then says that everytime she runs her nails down somebody else's back (while screwing) she hopes he feels it.

And what's with Dave Coulier saying this is an urban legend? He's already confirmed that the song was about him. In another interview he says that when he first heard the song he was like, Uh oh….and realized there was a problem and that maybe they needed to talk and get things resolved, cause obviously she was still pretty pissed about things. Then he said they talked, and everything was good. So yeah, he already confirmed it.

    Strange…..

I think I remember that she was underage when the relationship started, and he was married, not divorced.

Hmmm…that song was written about an Ottawa Senators hockey player she was long-term dating at the time, who cheated on her repeatedly with puck bunnies. She dated that Dave guy AFTER she wrote that song. It was huge news up in Canada back then and had nothing to do with the guy from Full House.
