Teen Mom Setting Baby Naming Trends??

| Filed under: Brad PittBaby BlabberAngelina JolieTwilightReality TV

Teen Mom Macy Top Name

Really?? Are people looking to Teen Mom for baby names?

Apparently so. According to the Social Security Administration's annual top and trending names lists, that is.

There IS a difference between top and trending, though, meaning that trending represents the largest growth burst — not necessarily making them the most popular and earning a place on the "top" portion of the list.

On the trending lists, the top names for both a girl and a boy seem to have come from the show: Maci and Bentley. Don't blame us, but we aren't a huge fan of either.

For boys, it also looks like Twilight's "Kellen" made the list, along with Brangelina's "Knox" and we don't quite understand either of those too. Why are people looking to these sources for names??

Whatever happened to Theodore or Burt or Kevin?? Gertrude, Hilda, Peaches?? LOLz!

Oh well, to each their own! Check out the rest of the list after the jump!

really? maci is probably the best mom on the entire show. she gave up so much for her baby and loves him more than anything. shes classy as hell and maci and bentley are great names. you just have to judge everyone dont you? youre the most judgmental piece of shit i've ever laid eyes on. just because she was young when she had her child, doesnt mean you can ridicule her. she lost her virginity to her boyfriend when she was 17, and ended up getting pregnant. her boyfriend ended up being a douche, but she still remained strong for her child. she works and raises her kid as best as she can.
all you do is sit behind a computer and make "fame" out of ridiculing other peoples lives, who get actually famous by having talent.

Teen Mom is the trashiest and worst example for young women! Lets forget that people are influenced by the names and focus on the bad values these pop tarts are setting! Reality is…if you are a teen that gets pregnant…..no matter how cute your baby name is your kid is more than likely to head down the same welfare road you are on. If you find yourself in this position consider adoption or work hard to find a better life for you and your baby. Chances are very slim that you will be starring on some trashy reality show and making reality $$. Shame on these networks for glamorizing what is a sad epidemic.

Dont judge until you watch the show fat boy. As for names I've always liked the name Macy but im not so sure now.

Why is teen pregnancy being glorified on tv?

Re: idontcarewhatthisis – Oh please maci is one of the most selfish teen moms we've seen. She moved her baby hours away from the only family he knows just so she could be closer to her friends and boyfriend that she was only with for a few months. She has no problem making her babydaddy have to drive an hour and a half just to pick up his kid a couple times a week, just because she can afford it.

Hey, I don't know why anyone would name their kid Mario but that's just me.

  7. 7

Proof that the general pubic is stupid. Why people watch this white trash is beyond me.

  8. 8

If any parent is influenced enough by pop culture to actually dictate what they name their child they should most definitely not be breeding.

  9. 9

That's a little rich Mario. I mean you changed your name to Perez. Why not Burt or Kevin?

Great. A whole generation of children with white trash names like Bentley, Aleeah Jordynn, Nevaeh, Jace, and the countless other names given to babies on 16 and Pregnant. Way to go, MTV!

My sons name is Kellen…We didnt name it him after Kellan Lutz, my husband actually heard the name when he was watching a football game…and it just stuck with him.

That show makes my skin crawl.

My daughter's middle name is Gertrud! I love that name!

  14. 14

I am not surprised by this.. people name their children after movie actresses and things all the time. WHy is this so shocking? lol

  15. 15

    uhhmmmm yeah

My teacher named her son Gryffin based from the name Gryffindor!! and i said if i ever had a son i would name him Draco and my daughter Luna Marie. Plus dont hate MARIO! Bentley is a cute name.

Oh please. People have been doing this for years. My oldest is going to school with a bunch of Dawsons, Joeys (girls) and even a Pacey. I'm not sure what's worse: Copycats who watch too much TV or Movies or people who give their kids a cre8ive shittastic name littered with Ys and apostrophes.

    Re: Brides – Hahaha,I agree 100%!

Re: Superhot – Really? Do you realize that teen pregnancy is at a record low right now? What the hell do you think this show is trying to do? It is trying to show girls the reality of teen motherhood and it does a damn good job. You probably don't even watch the show. Those young women are extremely brave to put their stories out there because of ignorant people like you to judge them. Most of the girls do the very best that they can. Who cares if they get a big pay check? At least they don't have to rely on the system.
