We're offering a SPOILER ALERT warning, but only if you haven't seen last week's episode. If you have, then please proceed into some juicy teases about the finale.
Now that the damage of the Sacrifice has been done, The Vampire Diaries finale will focus on a new threat - the impending death of one Ian Smolderhalder via a werewolf bite. Nina Dobrev, who takes on double-duty as human Elena and vampire Katherine, reveals that the season finale is going to be "very confusing," but also one of the best episode of the show to date. She explains:
“We go into flashbacks and into hallucinations. You won’t really know which is which until you’re intended to know that. There’s a lot of really cool visual tricks that happen. That’s why it’s a very confusing, very interesting episode that makes you think…Because Damon force-fed Elena his blood, and she was just so heartbroken by it, and she was so angry and upset, it’s almost like something finally clicked in his brain and he realized that he did something that was not right.
It’s his final act of good grace - he doesn’t want to burden them with it. He’s already kind of written himself off, and he doesn’t want to make everyone around him suffer. He just wants to go gracefully and try to redeem himself before he dies."
But will he really die? That's the big question, isn't. It seems so unlikely that they'd kill off such an essential character - but they've done it before. Hell, they killed off two last episode!
So what will it be? Will this be the end of Ian on the show? Or as one of the core three characters, will he remain immune? We'll let Nina leave you with these tease:
"Of course, there’s gonna be a cliffhanger. The show’s not gonna end on a subtle note. We’re still gonna end in a way that people need and have to come back to find out what happens next season, but in a different kind of way.”
Take from that what you will!
