Weinstein VS Relativity: When Studios Get Catty!

Two of the biggest movie-making companies in the biz are at each other's throats over the distribution rights to the movie The Crow.

Basically, Relativity owns the rights to the movie right now, but agreed to hand over the rights to the Weinstein Company so they could distribute it. The Weinstein Company claims Relativity reneged on the deal because they are still upset over what they call the "mishandling" of Nine, the last flick the two companies collaborated on.

So, Relativity is asking for $20 million in damages from Weinstein for Nine because it performed so poorly and they are refusing to hand over The Crow, claiming the studios lacks the $70 million necessary to release the film.

And what does the Weinstein Company have to say about this whole mess? Let's check in with their lawyer Bert Fields and see! Bert says:

"The allegations of the motion are absolute garbage. This claim was about a totally different picture. It should have been made at the time of 'Nine,' not now because they broke the contract on 'The Crow.' It's total hogwash, and I cant wait to get Mr. Kavanaugh on the witness stand."

Someone's all fired up!!! The fight is on!!!

But all this fuss over The Crow? Seriously? we know it has a pretty devote following, but c'mon? $70 million???

I don`t know how Nine was mishandled… They promoted the hell out of that movie. People just weren't into it.

"Nine" wasn't mishandled. It was just a shitty movie and no one was interested. Ever since "Chicago" came out, these movie musicals are just making what looks like exactly the same freakin' movie over and over. Same look, same camera style, same sorts of costumes, same Fosse-style dancing. It's getting old now. I don't know a single person who had any desire whatsoever to see "Nine", and not because it was under-promoted.

On a side note…fuck them for re-making "The Crow". I hope it bombs on an EPIC level.

    Who cares?

Well of course Nine flopped. It had Nicole Kidman in it. That is the kiss of death for any movie. She is the queen of flops
