It's Really Costing A Bundle To Keep Ryan On As The Host Of Idol

A $10 million dollar bundle!

You might not have heard, but Ryan Seacrest makes $45 million dollars a year - $55 million if you count his take from producing Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution . One-third of that hefty paycheck comes from hosting American Idol and it turns out that his salary has sent Idol's operating costs soaring.

The show had to submit a regulatory filing on Monday and from those documents, we've learned that costs for the show jumped 17 percent while there was a decline in operating income. Ryan's salary mirrors these changes as his salary tripled from $5 to $15 million for just hosting Idol.

However, no one at FOX is sweating these details. American Idol's still the #1 show on TV. It brings in $7.11 million every half hour its on the air. That means just one episode covers Ryan's salary almost completely.

Not a bad deal Ryan. Not bad at all.

A monkey could do his job, what a waste of cash. Bring Brian Dunkelman back for 1 million and donate 9 million to Children's music programs and instruments for schools.

let IT go ! Mr. Dick Clark Wanna Be …..
      .
I TOTALLY AGREE W/ Whoaaa !!! give the money to schools and kids, BUT then let some of the old contestants host the show

More crappy decisions by the head of networks!!!!
Why not give a newcomer a chance at hosting for a LOT less money?

By paying Ryan Seachrist this kind of money I lost THREE shows (Human Target, Lie to Me and Good Guys) from this network…so now I only have Bones to watch on Fox.

Really is Ryan worth the loss of viewership?

gotta give the guy credit. he's making a ton of money with virtually no talent.
he should be strangled for that horrible morning show and bring the kardashian clan too us, but at least the jamie oliver show is trying to do some good.
there's a huge market in idiots, and ryan is just smart enough to understand that.

Most overpaid, over-hyped, talentless piece of sh!t in the history of Hollywood.
As someone else said, a monkey could do his job and that is true.
What moron decided that paying someone $15 million to stand and talk to people for 5 seconds at a time was a good idea?

I am convinced now that he is blackmailing people in Hollywood and probably has gay sex tapes of some very important people that they don't want getting out or something, because he is truly talentless.

Why do people need that much money?

His salary is relative to what the judges make, plus the show is BANK for the network. It's clear that he has hosting/acting/producing chops. I'd rather see talented, hard working people earn big bucks vs TEEN MOMS, Jersey Shore idiots, and everyone on the real drunk ignorant housewives of fill in the blank.

      He's really not all that!

Re: Roseygirl – Agree. Ryan is a television personality. There's many that claim a monkey could do the job, but isn't he basically the same as a journalist? You have to have excellent verbal, reading and presentation. It's harder than it looks.
