Bridesmaids Expected To Hit Strong Numbers This Weekend

Bridesmaids Doing Really Well

We were lucky enough to catch a screening of this a few days ago, and let us tell you: It is amazing AND highlarious!!

Never have we seen an all female lead cast hit such a comedic home run, with character depth and shock humor balanced flawlessly! Kristin Wiig's journey is one that should not be missed!

Having said that, we're excited to hear that the opening weekend is on track for a $21.5 million dollar opening!

Regardless of the fact that it will most likely land at #2 for the weekend behind the almighty Thor, this is a hug success for the gals! We definitely hope that word of mouth and reviews will carry the strong support and momentum into the coming weeks: it deserves it.

Here's some inneresting info on it:

"Heading into the weekend, most box office observers thought Bridesmaids would be a solid player, and gross between $15 million and $17 million. (Baby Mama, rated PG-13, opened to $17.5 million). Its over-performance signals it is working as a counter-programming move.

Females made up roughly 65% of the audience–while a full 77% were over the age of 25 as younger moviegoers continued to stay away from the multiplex. Overall, the audience gave Bridesmaids a B+ CinemaScore.

Bridesmaids cost roughly $32 million to produce, with Relativity Media chipping in some of the financing."

Fab work, everyone involved!

This movie was seriously so refreshing to see, we're really proud of the cast and crew for having the courage to go as far as they did with every aspect of it, and of course we have to give a shout-out to Chris O'Dowd for being ABSOLUTELY ADORBS!

Everyone should check it out!

Wow what a positive review, it couldn't possible be because they advertised on your site for the last week, with annoying pop-ups every few minutes? Too bad you have to sell out to keep the site going.

  2. 2

I HOPE this movie does well. Maybe she will think she has an awesome movie career and leave SNL for good! HateHateHate her!!!!

  3. 3

@1finn that is exactly what I thought. If you ever wondered what selling out means, Perez, this is it.

  4. 4

i LOVED bridesmadis!!! i mean come on sookie st. james is in it you can't go wrong with that!!!!!

i was hoping it would be really good, but it was marginally funny at best. was there one decent laugh in the second half of the movie? (and over 2 hours for a comedy is way too long)
the biggest problem is that kristin wiig wrote it. like her self written skits on snl ("gilly') they just aren't that funny. she should stick to letting others write and let her act (ghost town, paul). thats when she's funniest.
and for some reason apatow loves unthinkable behavior by police (superbad, bridesmaids) in his movies.
she can do so much better.

1finn & idontreally care are 100% correct too. can there be a thread of objectivity in perez's thoughts. need a new gossip site. any suggestions?

  7. 7

shuddup you big girl…why is everything "amazing" to you ? What a brown noser.

  8. 8

I don't think I have ever even cracked a smile at anything I have seen Wiig do. She has not an ounce of real humor. To just act WHACKY is not funny.

The movie was fantastic! Perez if you have Netflix, you should check out The IT Crowd because Chris O'Dowd is hilarious in it!

  11. 11

Worth seeing! The end song/dance was quite funny and a happy ending of course.

  12. 12

The newspaper gave it 3.5 stars. Oh my, they get ad revenue too. Everybody is in on it. I would still GO SEE IT.

  13. 13

Bleh. Didn't like The Hangover, don't think it'll be better with effing Gilly in it.

Coming in second best isn't anything to celebrate about unless of course you're cheering on a child with special needs. From the looks of things this movie looks like it was conceptualized and starring a bunch of special needs people. So congradulation to all who were involved with this second place movie.

I really wanted to like it, but I just didn't. There were a few really funny parts, but for the most part it was just awkward and painful to watch.
