Gossip Girl Finale Didn't Do So Well…

Gossip Girl Bad Ratings

In fact, it did so poorly out of the notable season enders last night that some of speculated as to whether or not it (and 90210 which BARELY beat it) should have been a series ender instead. Sorry, Ed!

Looks like the winners for the night were Dancing with the Stars, the season finale of Castle, and Hawaii Five-O. Two of them ABC shows. (5-0 is CBS) Let us just say that none of that comes as a shock to us, especially Castle, because we've said it before and we'll say it again: Nathan Fillion is rad.

The bottom dwellers of the evening (mostly NBC) included Chuck, Mad Love, 90210, The Event, Gossip Girl, and L&O:LA.

That's a bummer for the bottom shows, but we're willing to bet that they're there for a reason.

Here are some details:

ABC danced its way to another overnight Monday victory care of Dancing with the Stars, which stood well above anything else last night with a 14.8 rating/22 share from 8-10 p.m. Next on ABC was the season-finale of Castle at a dominant 8.6/14 at 10 p.m.

New episodes of canceled The Event (#4: 2.8/ 4) and Law & Order: Los Angeles (#3: 3.3/ 6). And The CW aired the season-finale episodes of 90210 (#5: 1.4/ 2) and Gossip Girl (#5: 1.2/ 2), which should have been series-enders.

Not awesome for the people involved, yeah, but like we said, there's gotta be a reason for such low ratings. Luckily, some of them have the chance to come back and earn their place next year!

Step up the game!

Great job to those who brought in the viewers!

After I found out Dair wasnt going to happen i got pissed and stop watching.

the CW knows this and they don't care. I watch and record most of the shows Monday night and CW shows has this hipster edgy not apart of the popular crowd and never follow the straight and narrow. Those shows are there for one thing only - the fans. Every decade there's always that Teen Soap that all of us grew up with and 90210, Gossip Girl and even Hellcats now are shows teens and teen soap fans from decades ago, are going to watch and talk about the day after. All the shows that did very well last night on CBS, ABC, are all said and done. nothing really left to talk about with any of them because they left to curiosity factor, with an exception of Dancing with the Stars. But otherwise there were ALOT of new episodes on last night for one person to keep up with or even care to. There's shows out there for everyone regardless of ratings. CW used to be that channel that cancels shows the msot but now it's every channel. Especially NBC. that's why after a few episodes they renewed the the Voice for season 2 because not alot of NBC shows have that big of an audience, where they're not about teen soaps and have to rely on ratings. and I lost count how many shows CBS canceled. But regardless of ratings like I said, there's something out there on TV for everyone and there always will be.

i dont get it, i'm from the UK what does it mean they should have been series enders rather than finale's?? that they should be cancelled?

I must admit, I was surprised by the ending on GG last night, it was a good twist. But overall, that show has been in major decline over the past two seasons. I'm surprised I kept watching all the way through last night.

I was seriously disappointed in last nights season finale episode. In fact this whole season has been a disappointment. What is with both 90210 and Gossip Girl having a girl end up pregnant…laziness! gee maybe they should have consulted with each other on their season finales. they both failed to impress me and not want me to tune in next season..ok i lied..i cant help this show is like crack to me. Just hope they recover because they were my favorite shows on Monday night

Has there ever been a show with more press and less viewers?

The press has been trying to jam this show down people's throats for years.

    Most people don't care.

90210 is the best out of all of course. i really couldn't care less about the other shows. the episode yesterday was beyond amazing. i'll always be a 90210 fan. best show out there right now for sure. American Idol comes next and then Top Model. These three shows are the best in my opinion. it's really hard to find good shows these days. none of that jersey crappy shit. lol who would actually waste their time watching that junk. overrated old adults acting like a bunch of teenagers. lol some people who actually watch that show are sick in the head.

wel if these shows wouldnt take months off at a time and then come back whenever, maybe they would find an audience. I used to watch 90210 but then it went on hiatus for 2 months and by then id found another show to watch on mondays during the time.

I love all of these shows but honestly Castle was amazing last night! So proud both the leads are canadian :) It was actually outstanding and i cant wait for next season! The other 2 were good but not like Castle. The sad thing is i've never met anyone else who watches it!!

I thought GG and 90210 finales were awesome!! I love fluffy teen drama as well as more legit shows.. but I don't have cable so watch it online! So just because viewers don't watch it on the exact night..

  11. 11

Although the ending is not what I wanted or expected, there's a good intro into the next season. The reason ratings might have been down is because they take soooo much time in between episodes. There was seriously a two month hiatus. You can't deny fans for that long without back lash. Oh, and ratings will probably increase next season since V is out. Hallelujah!

Re: swift13 – I hadn't either.. until I started convicing people to watch it.. now everyone i know can't stop talking about it.. I jsut keep hoping that the funeral scene was just a bad nightmare for castle and that next season he will wake up.. or something! lol

Re: citymouse – he meant Dair.. Dan and Blair..t hey had that lil whirlwind thing for a minute..

Hey now people. I love Gossip Girl and 90210. Haha, I mean come on give them a break. The show will end in about 2 years, so until then we can't do anything about it. I do, only like Gossip Girl for Ed and Leighton, and 90210 for AnnaLynne and her nerdy boyfriend. BUT, both of the season finales ended with my favorite characters being preggers which I don't like. So, if either of them are pregnant it will be a big disappointment. Sorry CW, I don't watch your channel to get a knockoff Secret Life of the American Teenager. I watch for bitches and drugs and vamps. Got it? Kay goodd.
