What are DVDs again? Those are the things that came after VHS, right???
Looks like actual rental discs will soon become a thing of the past as studios go digital, such as Miramax who's closed a multi-year deal, which will add hundreds of the studio's films to Netflix's ever-expanding roster of streaming movies.
The deal is reportedly worth over $100 million, and it is NOT Netflix-exclusive…so don't be surprised if you also see Miramax joining forces with
Blockbuster Amazon in the near future!
Here's what Miramax CEO Mike Lang had to say about the deal:
"From day one, we’ve been very clear about the importance of digital and our desire to respond to the significant pent-up demand for our films — delivering to consumers whenever and wherever they want. This agreement is an important first step in our digital strategy. Netflix has always been a trailblazer, with a tremendous track record of innovation and quality customer service. We’re thrilled to now be in business with them as we build and revitalize the proud Miramax brand."
Pret-ty cool! We've been craving some vintage Matt Damon! Digital Good Will Hunting, here we come! LOLz.
What do U think about this new deal between Miramax and Netflix? Team Digital or Team DVDs?
