Yes! Scream 5 Is A Go!

After the ending of the last one - which was pretty kick-ass, might we add - we have no idea how they could continue the series, but hey! If it doesn't suck, we're all for it!

Despite Scream 4 not doing as well financially as anyone had hoped in the US, The Weinstein Company chief Harvey Weinstein recently revealed the horror/comedy sequel has done so well overseas that a Scream 5 will almost certainly happen, and director Wes Craven will most likely be involved!

He explains:

"I'm sure [director Wes Craven is] going to do a sequel, I'm sure he's going to do a sequel. Foreign [sales] are so strong that we'll do over $100 million worldwide. It's at $90 now, with about five or six major countries to go and a lot of small ones. We'll probably do $110 million. I wish it would have been better domestically. But it's not the worst thing in the world that's ever happened. When I had my first conversation with [screenwriter Kevin Williamson] about this whole thing, he had an idea for a new trilogy. And I think that was Bob Weinstein's thing also about waiting so long — if there were to be a 'Scream 4,' there would also probably be a 'Scream 5' and a 'Scream 6' sooner or later so we could construct a new trilogy that kind of stood on its own."

Wow! We're certainly more than curious to see how they can manage to continue the story after Scream 4 - it seemed pretty nicely wrapped up!

But we're certain if anyone can do it, it's Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven!

We're ready to see what you have up your sleeves, guys!

What do U think? Do U want to see a Scream 5?

Didn't bother to watch the last one since I lost interest. The only good one was the first one, other two were awful.

Um, you need to stop getting your quotes from sources who have gotten them from a ton of other sources. If you actually watched the video on the original source of MTV.com then you would know that what you posted is a mash-up of quotes from Weinstein and Craven that were said months apart.

pretty sad that it can only do maybe $40 mill domestic. but you can make money overseas where people are still 10 14 years behind the us

I'm sad that it's not doing better here in the states. I watched it & really loved it! I thought it revitalized the franchise for sure. I think most people who didn't go see it made that decision based on the last two that were not so great, but this one was actually better than the last two Scream movies, & at least equal to the first.

I really liked it. The only thing that bothered me about Scream 4 is some of the Newbie acting. Some of those people were pretty bad. But I digress. I still enjoyed the movie and would gladly go see Scream 5.

The original Scream was a commentary on pop culture; it redefined the horror genre. The new Scream 4 similarly comments on Internet culture. This is all Williamson. The difficulty is that commentary is not a story. A story is necessary for a trilogy. This is why Weinstein brought in Craven and Kruger, who are storytellers. But then you have the problem of too many chefs. If Williamson would just sit down and write the whole script out, concentrating on the story, it will be great.
