Did Beyoncé Rip Off Her Run The World Choreography?!

| Filed under: Music MinuteWacky, Tacky & TrueBeyonce

Relax, everyone! These guys not only knew about it and gave their okay, but they appear in the video WITH her!

Check out the Mozambican kwaito dance group Tofo Tofo and their absolutely KICK-ASS moves, which ultimately served as inspiration for Beyoncé's choreography in her just-released video for Run The World (Girls) (above)!

While many assumed that the diva had just ripped these guys off, she actually discovered them on YouTube, and when she reached out to them to help out choreographers Frank Gatson and Sheryl Murakami with the moves for the video, they didn't even know who she was!

LOLz!

You can even spot them dancing alongside her in the clip! Check it out again…AFTER THE JUMP!

Phew! Glad that's cleared up!

What do U think?? Do U like B's new video?

Beyonce is trying to rip off Gaga. Gaga rips off Madonna but Gaga has big talent. Beyonce is a very minor talent.

  2. 2

Video is great but song sucks! Sounds like her old stuff and played out.

  3. 3

She has a history of ripping off dance moves. Her entire single ladies Choreography was ripped off of Bob Fosse’s choreography for “Mexican Breakfast”- you can see it on yourtube

Are you kidding me? ALL Beyonce does is rip people off! she takes other peoples songs, other peoples dance moves, everything. She is totally beautiful, but not really very creative.

Man this new website is awful and I work in IT. You need to work on this and I notice I am not the only feeling this..so little comments because they can't get on your page. You are probably losing millions of hits because of this. Whoever designed this..should be canned.

wow wait.. i'm not denying it but i want to know fromm the commenters how she steals? I mean all her songs don't remind me of shit? Not sure about her look or choreography either.

  7. 7

Anyone else reminded of the whole halo/already gone saga? Not anywhere near as important or annoying but atleast it's being exposed this time

Re: boston61 – Excuse Me…. Beyonce Has been and is the top recording arist of the last decade… recognized by several outlets…and is being Honored with Billboard's Millenium Award….. "The Billboard Millennium Award will recognize Beyoncé's career achievements and influence in the music industry" .. Not to mention her 16 grammy awards. Gaga is temporary… Beyonce has been here.

    Is that monkey's?

Re: OWEIRD – Beyonce is NOT EVEN CLOSE to the top selling artist of the last decade. That would be EMINEM. Her record sales don't even come CLOSE to his in the last decade so not sure where you got that bullshit.

i wouldn't say she ripped off Fosse - she gave him credit for it. And millions of people watched Gwen Verdon slay that Fosse choreography because of Beyonce. Sometimes it's good for the original when artists use them for inspiration - they get a whole new audience.

I love Beyonce as a performer and think she's beautiful, but it's hard for me to even pay attention to the video because I'm too distracted by the beats she's taken from Major Lazer, Diplo & Afrojack's Pon de Floor. I already feel weird about progressive/electro/dub/house beats becoming more popular in the mainstream world, but this pairing was just awful as a song…

They didn't EVEN KNOW HER. I love how everyone in little good ol USA thinks these fucking hacks are internationally renowned as Madonna or Gaga

Re: nycyankeeguy – It's African music moron not Beyonce's stuff.

  16. 16

ehem- here's an inneresting fact…The dance is called Panstula- South African- performed by township boys …and girls… #thatsall

Stop being miserable b!tches! no wonder this country has a high percentage of heart disease, heart attacks and high cholesterol,….people sweat things like this to the fullest…enjoy the video and move on!!! I bet you haters are the first to buy up the album!

  18. 18

That dance is a South African dance called Pantsula; Kwaito is a music genre - the song they are dancing to is called 'Sisi Ngihamba Nawe' (Girl, I want you) by DJ Cleo (South African DJ)… I should know coz I'm South African…. Beyonce is KILLING it though!!!

Re: BeatGoesOn88 – Eminmen record sales are estimated to be "42,970,000 albums worldwide" and Beyonce are over 50 million worldwide and 115 with Destinys Child.

Re: BeatGoesOn88 – Eminmen record sales are estimated to be "42,970,000 albums worldwide" and Beyonce are over 50 million worldwide and over 115 million worldwide with Destinys Child. P.S. Eminem is not relevant to this post.

I don't see what the big deal is, Beyonce saw talent and approached these guys, like many artists she borrowed from their pool of creativity. Artists do that all the time, Timberlake and Usher both borrowed from Michael Jackson, The Fugees borrowed from Enya with Ready or Not…and almost got sued for it… the list goes on. This video is the bomb, and being from South Africa, I'm even more impressed as these moves are our trademark!! BIG UPS Sister girl!!!

In fact she also does a bit of Kwasa kwasa moves as well, (Congolese/ West African)dance moves…
