Katy Perry Is NOT Happy About Mom's Memoir!

| Filed under: Sad SadKaty Perry

Katy Perry mom

This isn't good.

Katy Perry is reportedly not thrilled about her mother's new memoir, which has unfortunately caused a rift between the two.

In the book, Mary Hudson takes her resentment for Katy's "risque" performances public, writing:

"Katy stepped out from behind the changing doors in a tiny risque costume. No mother wants to see the top of her daughter's boobs…"

It's not like she's stripping! What mother HASN'T seen the top of her daughter's boobs? It's called cleavage!

The Christian evangelist pastor continues to explain her distaste for her daughter's lyrics as well, saying:

"I recognised the psalmist gift in her performance. Yet she sang out, 'I kissed a girl, and I liked it,' while thousands joined her. One part of my heart soared… the other part broke for the thousands of hungry souls being fed something that didn't nourish their spirit, but fed their flesh."

Despite the judgement clearly cast down upon her daughter for becoming a successful pop star, Mary insists she is writing "a Christian faith book, not some kind of tell all book about my daughter."

It sounds like a tell all book about her resentment towards her daughter to us! We respect Mary's Christian faith, but don't understand why she needs to talk about Katy in order to write about it.

Sadly, we do know why she needs to write about Katy if her intentions are to sell a lot of copies.

Thankfully, Katy's father and Mary's husband, Keith Hudson, wants to put an end to their conflict, saying:

"The situation has caused quite a bit of tension. I don't want that anymore."

We truly hope whatever damage that has been done can be repaired because we'd hate to see Katy's relationship with her mother be flushed down the drain over a book.

Do U think it's okay for Mary Hudson to write about her daughter or did she breach Katy's trust?

    Little over dramatic.

  2. 2

I think it's perfectly fine to write about Katy in her book. She is a pastor and her daughters choice of career has more than likely had an impact on the way they are both viewed and on her mothers job. She is probably talking about Katy because it shows the conflict she has between her religion and trying to support her daughter. Lot's of authors refer to their loved ones in their books. The only difference is Katy is famous.

  3. 3

I like the song but her mom is right. What christen wants to see their kid dress in see through clothes and dresses that barely cover her ass?! And her songs are pretty sluty.

  4. 4

Those comments relate to public performances. So she's simply giving her opinion. Also, I understand that it's just cleavage, but it's also just her mom's point of view. I wouldn't want to see my sisters out in public dressed in some of Katy's costumes. Her mom is just a conservative Christian minister, so her standards are a little stricter.

  5. 5

I also think it's absolutely fine for a parent to write of their feelings about their child if it's something directly related to the topic of a book. Bare in mind that Katy Perry is not a kid and her choice of career and more importantly the lyrics she sings (hey..I'm a fan, but I can understand Mary's viewpoint) likely directly contradict many of the beliefs her mother holds dear. No parent wants their kid singing slutty lyrics.

  6. 6

Does anyone care what her mom writes? You guys are ridiculous for acting like Katy Perry is risque! I mean, the girl is as PG-13 as it gets. Do you guys live in a world that I don't?

    7

Sure. Her mom can have an opinion that is based upon her own sensibilities. Parents and kids often agree to disagree, and simply have to love each other anyway. They lead separate lives mostly, so it's not a big deal unless someone makes it one.

  8. 8

She breached her daughter's trust to make a buck off her. That's what good Christians do –for baby Jesus, of course!

  9. 9

Re: bretticus21 – and thats the sad part! pg-13 used to be kid friendly now its not. i was watching a movie the other day and pg-13 came up on the screen follwed by adult language, adult sititions, and adult content!

  10. 10

It's a matter of bad taste and a lack of ethics to talk about your daughter like that. Being a pastor should implicate good morals and some sensibility. I'm afraid this is just done for one thing; selling the book. Nothing christian about that.

  11. 11

Katie Perry did what most people do who want to be famous (i.e. standout, i.e. be special)…she sang a controversial song. Not because she's gay. Because she's a careerist. Duh.

  12. 12

I really hope she goes on to say how proud she is of her daughter. Poor Katy.

  13. 13

Katy did exactly what jessica simpson did, she decided christian music didnt get them famous enough so they became slutty.

  14. 14

This breaks my heart… and I'm not known as the sappy type. But I do come from a family that loves and supports everything positive I do. I can't imagine either of my parents being anything other than happy for my success. And if there was some doubt about whether or not your child was doing the right thing, maybe it's a hint when they can sell record amounts of singles. If she wants to talk about this issue with her daughter, she needs to talk to her daughter, not go to a publishing house and make a profit from her story. Katy has too many positive things going on in her life right now. No mother should be adding ANY negativity to their child's day. Shame.

  15. 15

Why is she wearing one of pig-vomit Mario Lardvermicelli's hats?

  16. 16

    Re: pie107 – what christian can't spell christian……….?

  17. 17

You just know it's a tell all after two quotes huh? Oh well.. when you write a book, you want it to sell.. mentioning her daughter will do that, but it doesn't mean she's throwing her under the bus.

  18. 18

I think she is breaching katys trust, so no mother wants to see the top of her daughters tits, no daughter wants to be publicly slammed by there own mother!!!

  19. 19

Re: gdeeaz – Which is why the mother should have shut her fucking mouth shut. How many would buy the book if it wasn't for Katy ? This woman is pure trash. I'm not Katy fan but noone deserves that from their own parents.

  20. 20

PS. Her mother might be a minister now but she has had some one night stands when she was younger so who the fuck is she to speak about morals ?

  21. YOURS says – reply to this

    21

Her mum is a pastor…what would you expect?!! It's normal if she includes KP in her book…and she probably had conflicts with her daughter in the past!!

  22. 22

She's probably just upset that Katy's ever present "duh" look reflects poorly on the family.

  23. 23

She's a conservative Christian, I'm not surprised she's upset about the costumes and the songs. However she really doesn't need to write a book about it. She's pretty much breaching Katy's trust and making a quick buck off of her daughter.

  24. 24

Her mom is using Katy to sell books..she wasn't trying to write a Christian book before her daughter was famous.. and she doesn't have to bring up her daughter to make a Christian book either..

  25. 25

why is the "damage" always done by someone else perez? sure Katie's mom is upset at the lifestyle choices of her daughter that SHE brought up a certain way. Look, I get that you don't like Christianity - but millions of people do. Of the quotes that you put in your article, I didn't see anything that was soooo overly dramatic or really even that full of condemnation. it sure sounded like a concerned parent. Maybe Katie just doesn't like having her behavior called out and it's making her feel guilty because even SHE knows she wasn't raised that way.

  26. 26

Re: Chappy – another idiot that completely misses the point.

  27. 27

Re: ParalyZzzZzer – how the hell do you know she had one night stands, and even if she did how long ago was that? That's the problem with fucks like you - you're willing to hang that around her neck for eternity no matter what she's done to change her life. You know, it's not hypocritical to CHANGE. It's hypocritical to remain the same. Apparently, that little tidbit is lost on the likes of fuckheads like you.

  28. 28

Re: J-Doll – did it occur to you that perhaps she didn't have a story before Katy was famous? The story IS all about the poor choices her daughter is making and how that's breaking her heart. No surprise there.

  29. 29

Did Perez just say "what mother hasn't seen the top of their daughters boobs" uh lots of mothers not all women walk around dressed like whores esp. in front of their parents Has your mother seen the top of your balls lately perez? On second thought forget I asked the answer is sure to disturb.

  30. 30

Katy's mom answers to God since she is very strict Christian. I don't even want to say strict…more devout. As a mother, i know i wouldn't want my daughters running around with their chests hanging out and singing about kissing women. They are young now but hey, i don't want it to happen. I hope they become nuns but i know that's not going to happen either. I believe that Katy's mom thought that she was writing about was more about pleasing God than pleasing her daughter. It does say in Revelations, i THINK…i'm not as strict or devout..than in the end times that brother will be against brother, father against son, wife against husband…etc. you get the picture.

  31. 31

Re: myles88 – Exactly…they all claim they are Christians but then chase after the almighty dollar. BUT that's not for us to judge.

  32. 32

    Re: myles88 – LOL

  33. 33

WOW! This is so old! Seriously, this is months old.

  34. 34

Who is the mother without the daughter's fame and career. Who cares what this mother has to say if it were not for the fact she is the parent of a celebrity. That she even has a book deal is not because she is a Xtian pastor but because she is Perry's mother. Attention from any non-family source is because of the career of the daughter. She's an opportunist and very 'un-Xtian' to criticize her meal ticket. God will not be happy with this hypocrite.

  35. 35

Her parents are whack job religious nuts.

  36. 36

It looks like the mother is feeding off of the daughter's fame. She wants her 15 minutes of fame, and she got it by writing a book.

  37. 37

Katy's allowed to talk about her parents in interviews, but her mother isn't allowed to TASTEFULLY discuss her distaste with Katy's path?

    Hypocritical.

I am conservative in no way, but I definitely understand where Mrs. Hudson is coming from.

She is a Christian Pastor. Christianity is not only her belief, but it's her career.. what she revolves most of her life around. It is slightly disrespectful of Katy to be going the opposite direction of her parents like that.

And she was right, no mother wants her daughter in tiny little costumes. I mean, come on. Who wants to see their daughter looking like sex? Nobody.

This resembles nothing of a tell all book. Everything you've quoted in this post are things we all already knew… She's just using these things as examples to back up her point.

I have a lot of respect for this woman.

Katy? Not so much. She's not even that talented. She's popular in the music industry because of her boobs, her fun-time dumbed down lyrics, and her bright colors.

I'm sorry, I'm sure she's a great person.. but I feel like she's selling herself short.

  38. 38

Whatever her sensibilities are, they should be kept between mother and and her GROWN UP daughter, not aired for strangers all over the world. The fact alone that she's doing this publicly means that she's a bad mother, period.

  39. 39

I don't blame Katy Perry for being upset. I don't really see the purpose for this book. It is somehting that should be worked on between them not the general public. Seems like Mommy Dearest wants to make a quick buck off of her daughter's fame. I saw an interview with KP and even though she is in the public eye she still spoke about her religion and its importance in her life. Shouldn't that make her mother happy? Typical fundamentalist who wants to control every part of someone's life.

  40. 40

Re: darisa1019 – You hope your daughters to become NUNS? Woman, why did you even bother to breed?!

  41. 41

Katy…unfortunately you do not have a mother. A mother or immediate family member should ALWAYS love you and be supportive NO MATTER WHAT! Remember what Michael's message was–Love.

  42. 42

I can't think of anything more natural than what Katy's mom is doing. She's her MOTHER not high school best friend trying to cash in. Katy's choices have affected her, as a conservative person and she as much a right to stand up and have her say as Katy does to go out and be an artist.

  43. 43

I'm with the people saying her mom is breaching her trust by writing those things about her. She has every right to feel however she feels about all of it, but writing about it in a book is crossing a line. She SHOULD be supportive of her daughters ability to make her own decisions in life, & follow her own dreams. She should be proud of her daughter for accomplishing as much as she has. If she doesn't feel that way, nobody can make her, & I'm sorry to Katy that her parents are not more supportive or proud of her. However She can feel whatever she wants, without going public with it. THAT is the problem I see with this. It may have been true, but it wasn't necessary, or particularly kind.

  44. 44

Note to Mom. DON'T DO IT! You will lose something more precious than you ever know and it will never come back. You will have betrayed the bonds of motherhood and made commentary at the expense of your daughter and only because of the success of your daughter would such commentary be welcome. You will no longer be deserving of her love and trust. My heart breaks for Katie.

  45. 45

Re: AliceV – Well i know it FUCKHEAD because she has said so herself. One of her one night stands was with Jimi Hendrix himself and Katy has verified it. Now shut the fuck up and get lost.
The point here isn't Christianity but the attempt of a MOTHER to slam her DAUGHTER publicly.
It's not hypocritical to remain the same if you wish to and it's not hypocritical to change if you wish to. The problem is that many people feel the need to preach and demand that everyone should change their lifestyle to accommodate their views of how life should be lived. If her mother has the right to live her life the way she wants why doesn't Katy has the same right ?
I don't care if she would have written a book anyway, she got the publicity by taking advantage of her daughter's fame, if it wasn't for Katy we wouldn't even know about her little book.
Now about Katy's looks, it's her body so if she wants to wear something sexy then so be it, if you don't like it then look away. I don't see you lot complaining about guys who appear nude on covers of magazines or movies so why the double standard ?
    Now fuck off.

  46. 46

Re: AliceV – What do you mean the story? I doubt she was talking about the way Katy was before she was famous because she mentioned the songs about her kissing other girls and the outfits she wears.. like i said she doesn't have to bring Katy's name up to make a Christian book. She can use other expamles of what she disappoves of and never even have to mention her daughter.

  47. 47

Re: AliceV – Never mind i reread and understand what you mean now. It doesn't matter if she felt that way before or after her daughter got famous. Her mother should not be going to the public about it, she should talk to her daughter about it and that is it. She can write a Christian book and her beliefs without saying all these things she disagrees with about her daughter. There are plenty of things she can use as an example instead.

  48. 48

    This is really old news.

  49. 49

I do not agree. Katy has made comments about her parents and upbringing. She is also a public figure. Her mother is not slamming, saying she hates or revealing deep dark secrets about her daughter her but giving her take on how she feels about her career. As a religious leader people are interested on how her mother feels about her daughter's choices especially since they seem to contradict her upbringing. Most parents would probably have similar feelings to those being expressed by her mother. She even stated that one part of her heart soared. I think she has mixed feelings but is very proud of her daughter's talent but maybe not how she uses it.

  50. 50

they sound like fucking nut jobs. someone should remind them not to bite the hand that feeds them

  51. 51

    Re: anemov – EXACTLY!!

I would NEVER wear an outfit that showed my cleavage or the top of my boobs around my mom or anyone in my family for that matter.

Katy Perry's case is different, she is a performer, it not like she's having lunch with her mother dressed like that. Her mom can shut her eyes if she doesn't like what she sees in her performances. I'm sure (or hope) Katy dress more conservatively when spending time with her mom.

  52. 52

Re: hotasurban – Great post. Most people don't seem to realize that being a pastor is just as much a public position as a pop star.

  53. 53

on the one hand it's a little hard to write a book and not include how you feel about your daughter's choices since they are different than what you are "preaching" but then again, how many people would buy this book if not that she's Katy Perry's mom and will include her in the book - Would she even get a book deal? What's done is done, now where's the money going? Charity?

  54. 54

I'd also like to add that although I can't know for sure, I doubt Katy Perry dresses so revealing in her private life, or at family gatherings. However, no matter WHAT she wears those girls are still gonna take center stage. When your breasts are so big there really isn't any hiding them, so why not show them off a little? Besides, she usually only shows off some of her cleavage, & her legs. She is MUCH more modest than oh, lets say Lady gaga??

  55. @v@ says – reply to this

    55

Re: going to hell when I die – I agree. People also forget that she's Katy's mother, and is concerned with the possible ways her daughter might be being coached to go about getting fame. The machine chews people up and spits them out for the machine's profit, and if the tops get lower, the skirts get shorter, and they convince her to sing about girls kissing girls IF she might have had reservations, (not saying she did), then as a mother, she would be concerned about it. Fame isn't good if it's at certain costs. Mothers are going to worry about their kids being used and their values compromised. Katy can put her and her concerns at ease just by communicating. If the mom is in the know regarding how it is, she can relax.

  56. 56

It really depends on what else is in the book. If it's all like this; comparing Katy's decisions to the mother's beliefs, then I'd say it's definitely a case of the mother using her daughter's success for personal profit. If it truly is a book focusing on spirituality and faith, with only brief mentions of her struggling with her daughter's choices–especially if it doesn't reveal anything about Katy that the public doesn't already see (such as her clothing–we all know how Katy Perry dresses) then I'd say it's perfectly acceptable, although I would definitely side with Katy; she shouldn't have to deal with her own mother publishing things about her that she doesn't want published because she definitely gets enough of that from tabloids, etc. If the mother would rather publish this book than maintain a friendly relationship with her daughter, doesn't that say something about what kind of person she is?

  57. 57

Re: elfinesmom – Of course she has a right, but what sort of mother would damage their relationship with her daughter just to sell a book?

  58. 58

I think her mother just wants to make money out of Katy's back…it's a sad thing that she chose money over her daughter

  59. 59

I don't think it was a breach of trust for Mary Hudson to write a book of her own experiences and opionions. Perfectly fine. I do think Katy Perry has gone alittle coo-coo in her life. It's hard to say because no one was there for her childhood. There are millions of Christians who try to raise their kids right. Banning the words Dirt Devil and Deviled eggs is alittle bizzaar. But the mom's quotes from this article seem good. I might buy the book to see what she says. Maybe Katy was just always trying to fight them on their teachings? Looking at stuff in the worst possible way instead of trying to understanding them trying to show her things they have learned? Im not sure. I will have to get the book.
