No Aerosmith For Idol Finale??

| Filed under: Music MinuteAmerican IdolSad Sad

No Aerosmith ON A.I.

So, Steven Tyler has been going around saying that getting Aerosmith to do the American Idol finale has always been the plan and that it was a go.

That's all fine and dandy and all, but why would Joe Perry being saying that isn't true at all?

Actually, Perry has been pointing out for a number of reasons why it wouldn't work, including that they've never been asked by producers, and that Brad Whitford already has a gig that night:

"(We're) not playing 'Idol' ’cause we were never asked by producers. (Guitarist) Brad (Whitford) has (a) gig that night with Experience Hendrix. It's not logistically possible. Aerosmith's looking forward to playing 'American Idol' next season when our new CD is out and we can prepare a kick-a** show if they ask us.

Makes sense to us as to why it wouldn't happen. It'd make more sense closer to the album, and if all the members could make it.

Maybe Steven could do something with the top two??

Would U be disappointed if they didn't perform?

It would be wise for Aerosmith to play the finale since all the news regarding the band for a few years now has been nothing but in fighting. Aerosmith could really get some positive press if they simply covered the songs of others to send a message. They should cover Otis Rush's "My Love for You Will Never Die" and have Tyler dedicate it to the band or the Faces "I'm Losin You." These two songs would send quite a positive message. I like Aerosmith, but they always had opportunities that they squandered. After Get Grip, they issued the weak Nine Lives. They did an album with backward art that was supposed to be their comeback vehicle. Indeed, they always got on track later. This is no different. Aerosmith has quite a chance to change the news about them to a positive and give their fans something. All you hear about is in-fighting and what appears to be jealousy. When, in fact this show has invigorated the band in the same sense that teaming up with Run DMC did. They ought to embrace it.

In any event, AI should just crown Steven Tyler the winner of this season's show. There is no doubt that no matter which of the contestants win that Tyler is also the big winner. He should get a star on the walk of fame for television for this.

Steven is doing a duet with James. That is enough.

I don't watch it so i don't care. AI is over.

Already booked for Experience Hendrix? Call another musician to do that gig and then give your collective heads a shake. Make the no brainer wise business decision and choose instead to appear on Idol and ensure your children's future. It doesn't get bigger than that. You can go back to performing wherever you want later.
