Awful Family On Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Lies About Daughters' Illnesses
This is so disgusting.
The Cerda family was featured on ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition after they asked the show to help them and their two daughters, who they said suffered from immunodeficiency disease.
In their appeal to the show, the family claimed that the girls illnesses were caused by toxins in their home due to mold. Their daughters were forced to wear masks and were even featured in a video posted by the Immune Deficiency Foundation (above).
Unfortunately, it seems that parents, Chuck and Terri Cerda, were a fraud and duped the show into believing they were a struggling couple trying to help their family.
After they were forced to put their house up for sale when they couldn't afford the home's increasing costs, the two girls were taken away from their parents for suspected child abuse and neglect.
After several tests and examinations, six different doctors testified that neither of the girls were sick. In fact, one of the doctors told a judge in the case against the parents that the girls were victims of medical child abuse.
Unbelievable. And so terribly tragic. We're just thankful that the girls are no longer in their parents' custody and can hopefully recover from this. Chuck and Terri should be behind bars.

Cerda means female pig, right? Seems appropriate.
like always, you're late on your stories. this was on the news monday!
I don't blame them. These shows, including news organizations NEVER do a solid background check anymore. There is SUCH a race to be first that all ethics, morals and research go flying right out the window. I think it's hilarious.
Saw this a few days ago. One important point about this that you seem to have missed is that the father is believed to be largely innocent of purposely fully misleading anyone. He seems to have trusted his wife in this matter and had no idea the girls were actually healthy. The wife is believed to suffer from a mental disorder so she isn't lying for monetary profit - she needs the attention. If its proved that she does have a mental disorder then that is dangerous and needs treatment. public condemnation is actually dangerous too as it is more likely to drive her underground and away from treatment.
First the Botox Mom, now this?? Whats wrong with parents these days… is the economy so bad that everyone has to lie, get their children to lie, and come up with fraudulent reasons to get money? So disgusting. Some people should never have kids.
munchausen syndrome
omg they even sound like they're making it up when they talk…
The kids are back with their parents. Also the judge says the father looked like a good father who just trusted his wife. This has been on the news for days.
