Lauryn Hill Pays Homage To Her Father-In-Law

| Filed under: Music MinuteLauryn HillJimmy Fallon

And she did him justice, we think!

Last night, it was Lauryn Hill's turn to pay tribute to Bob Marley on Jimmy Fallon's week-long event to commemorate the 30th anniversary of legendary Jamaican singer's death. As a member of the singer's family (she's married to Rohan Marley, Bob Marley’s fourth eldest son) it only seemed right she be a part of the celebration.

Check out the video (above) to hear Lauryn make her way smoothly through Bob's classic Chances Are!

Beautifully done!

It must have been a re-run because I saw her last week on Fallon. Her voice was great but her performances were a little odd.

I thought they weren't married they just had 5 kids together. Isn't he married to someone else?

They're not marrried, never have been. So Bob Marley isn't her father-in-law. Just ask Rohan.

NBC has been running a week old Fallon show at 3am. I saw this morning, also so last week. Listened again……..she is an artist.

So she decided to grace them with her presence? Was she on time?

Great voice but the performance is a little off… also, she kind of sticking with that dress-like-a-bag-lady thing… weird.

Am I watching and listening to the same performance as the rest of you? She was terrible. Did she have a tooth ache? An ear ache? Some sort of seizure activity possibly? Maybe all three at once? I don't really care what odd things a singer might do while singing, as long as they're actually SINGING. (Think Joe Cocker or Stevie Wonder.) But Ms. Hill's cringe-worthy vocal acrobats coupled with her, "I-can't-sing-unless-my-ear-piece-is-in-place" routine, was just lame.

I really miss the old Lauryn Hill who could keep it together and write inspiring music. Plus, is it just me or has she completely lost her unique voice?
