majority support for gay marriage

YES!!!!

According to a new National Gallup Poll, the majority of Americans now support marriage equality!!!!!!

More from the Gallup report:

"For the first time in Gallup's tracking of the issue, a majority of Americans (53%) believe same-sex marriage should be recognized by the law as valid, with the same rights as traditional marriages. The increase since last year came exclusively among political independents and Democrats. Republicans' views did not change."

SUCH fantastic news!!! So great to see that the country is headed in the right direction!

…Now if only we could get those Republicans to change their views…

EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL!

the majority has already voted it down

Now look, I am part of the Republican Party and still feel that people in general should have equal rights. We are not put on this earth to judge and demean one another, there is only one person who has the authority and the power judge our souls. We are suppose to accept one another for who we are and love each other regardless of our flaws and differences. If we were all the same, it would be a pretty boring world. Acceptance and love are vital for happiness.

Hilton, wouldn't you want Obama to change his views….he hate gay people.

I don't support gay marriage, and I'm not a Republican.

Look, I am part of the republican party. I also believe that people should be treated equally in general. We are not here to demean and judge one another. There is only one who has the power and authority to judge our souls. We are here to accept one another for who we are and love one another regardless of our flaws and differences. Acceptance and love breed happiness and everyone has the right to be happy.

What do you care Mario, no one would marry that pig face of yours.

perez just when i think you can't say anything dumber you prove me wrong. I am republican. always have been, always will be. I would rather not vote than vote democratic.
That being said i think the government needs to stop being so involved in our day to day lives. They force us to wear our seat belts, tell us what we can eat, and tell us who we can marry. It is not the governments job to be involved with deciding whether it is right or wrong two adults wanting to enter into a marriage. I am sick and tired of you liberals blaming the republicans. the freaking liberials have been in charge for how many years? They could have easily passed a bill making gay marriage legal. They choose not to do this because once it is legal what the hell else are they going to campaign on.

    Re: buck
In a major shift on gay rights, the Obama administration said that it would no longer oppose legal challenges to the Defense of Marriage Act, just two months after Congress and the president agreed to repeal the military's ban on openly gay service members.

Atty. Gen. Eric H. Holder Jr. said in a letter to Congress on Wednesday that the administration had determined that the act, which was passed by Congress in 1996, discriminated against gays and therefore could no longer be accepted as reasonable.

Re: sockie – you may not be a republican but you are still a bigoted idiot.

  14. 14

Re: Team Kim Richards – with the rapture coming tomorrow i would think you would have something better to do than hang out on perez's blog and leave hateful homophobic comments.

  15. 15

    This is good news :)

  16. 16

Perez- Do.Not.Go.To.War.With.Republicans. I'm a Republican, and I support Gay Marriage. You don't get a gallup poll at 50% without Republicans. Seriously- be supportive of Republican crossover, not antagonistic.

  17. 17

Republicans are incredibly ignorancant bigoted & racist. They are liars and hate mongers. They believe they can stand in judgement of people because they don't agree with what you're doing. Gay and lesbians that follow the law work hard pay their taxes should enjoy every right that a straight person does. Every man is created equal.

  19. 19

this will make kim richards & kim k nuts. who can really care one way or the other. if only gay people could be good married people like our leaders. such as arnold, newt, john ensign, mark sanford, elliot spitzer, john edwards, clinton, thomas jefforson, kennedy, and of course that idaho republican that had to cheat on his wife by cruising dudes in the airport.
lets keep this treasured institution to heteros

I can c this in the future if it's ever approved… it'll be like it' free everywhere and u'll say that now there's freedom in the world just bc u got the law (in US).

  21. 21

here's the breakdown according to the gallup poll-

69% of democrats support gay marriage

59% of independents support gay marriage

and of course only 28% of the bigoted hateful republicans support gay marriage
