Global Christian Ministry Admits They're Losing Fight Against Same-Sex Marriage

global christian ministry admits losing fight against same sex marriage

We'll go ahead and think of this as a WIN!

During a recent interview, president Jim Daly of global Christian ministry Focus on the Family admitted that his side has "probably lost" the fight against same sex marriage:

"We're losing on that one, especially among the 20- and 30-somethings: 65 to 70 percent of them favor same-sex marriage. I don't know if that's going to change with a little more age—demographers would say probably not. We've probably lost that. I don't want to be extremist here, but I think we need to start calculating where we are in the culture."

"We've got to look at what God is doing in all of this…Have we done such a poor job with marriage, is He so upset with our mishandling of it in the Christian community, along with our lust of the flesh as a nation, that He is handing us over to this polygamy and same-sex situation in order to, perhaps, drive the Christian community, the remnant, into saying, 'OK, there's no no-fault divorce in our church?'"

And here's Jim Daly on gay activists' view of Christian marriage:

"I sat down with one. He said, 'You guys haven't done so well with marriage. Why are you upset about us having a try?' We've got to look at our own house, make sure that our marriages are healthy, that we're being a good witness to the world. Then we can continue to work on defending marriage as best as we can."

Sorry, Jim, but as we saw in the latest Gallup Poll…you are most definitely losing this one!

The phrase "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" comes to mind. Think about it, Jim!

The way i see it marriage is uselesss! People get married for all the wrong reasons and with divorce in mind! If your not planning on being with that person for the rest of your life than dont marry them!!! Theres very few people that stay together anymore so just let the gays get married maybe they can do better than straight people

I'm not for telling people how to live their lives. I won't abandon my belief by saying that I'm okay with it and I won't jump on the bandwagon because everyone else does. I do however feel that forcing people to do something is not the right approach. As long as nobody is telling me how to raise my kids, I'm good :)

Re: gregoryschmo – just like the gays should stop pushing to be put into our history books in public schools…..gays should stay the fuck out of people business also…..

Re: pie107 – you are very sad….already throwing in the towel with your loser rederric comments.

There are many of us who do not get divorced and we love marriage…stop trying to lump us all into your pathetic ball of shit.

Re: Nu_BLOSS – CPS will always control how your raise your children.

Don't have a problem at all with gays getting legal recognition for partnership - but don't call it 'marriage', which it is not. Civil partnership - no problem.

However, one reason why I am checking this website less frequently is Perez' insistence on forcing his views on his readership: getting very irritating & very patronising.

    A good website is losing it's appeal…

I'm a Christian who doesn't have gay friends. I have no problem at all with gay marriage. It will not impact my life as long as they can't force my pastor to marry gays. I see marriage as two seperate things in America; a religious ceremony bound by God and a legal union with certain legal rights. As long as the gays can't bully churches, they shouldn't be discriminated in property rights, tax filings, etc.

Re: Team Kim Richards – im not sad just telling the truth more than 50% of all american marriages end in divorce. Alot of my family members are still married and very much happy. I have problems with how younger people deal with marriage but it seems you just have problems with gay people so dont take you issues out on me.

I have never felt strongly for or against gay marriage. However, I recently found Bella DePaolo's blog "Living Single" on PsychologyToday.com, and learned that married people have 1,300+ laws that favor them financially simply because they are married.

I have come to the conclusion that marriage is about discrimination against single people, regardless of sexual orientation. The church has a right to define the definition of marriage. However, gays who form committed life-long partnerships have the right to the same benefits that married opposite-sex marriages enjoy.

Let's pave the way for the benefits and rights enjoyed by married people become available to everyone, gay or not.

Christianity is such complete, utter bullshit.

The only thing Jesus ever said about marriage (other than to abandon your family) was not to divorce.

And what do American Christians do? Divorce!

So if you can't follow your own crazy fairy tales, don't expect the rest of us to either, hypocrites!

  14. 14

Society is fickle. You can't claim to be religious a man/woman of god,etc and then say "Weeelllll times are changing so we might as well"

Sorry religious morons religion doesn't work like that.

  15. 15

If most people approved of gay marriage it would of been legalized in the most gay friendly state in the nation..in which it did not..Polls are pointless because it only ask a small number of people..10,000 people getting polled does not mean "65-70%" of the POPULATION.

Re: PHARO – Yeah, say that when your house burns down and CHRISTIANS give you food to eat and a place to stay, you ignorant fuck.

I don't see what's so bad about this article, isn't it what the LGBT community wants. This guy is looking objectively at the fact and realising that maybe the church doesn't have all the answers, maybe it is outdated, maybe they do need to step back and have a rethink. That's all we can ask for, as a gay guy I would much rather the church accept that Gay marriage is inevitable and not a bad thing than force them to have to do it, which is just as bad as forcing the LGBT commity not to have that right. This is the start of that. So drop the bitchiness, yeah Perez?

If God were a judgmental old man looking down on us I would agree with the fundamentalists, but I feel that we have free will and that the creative force is with us as us.

    Re: pie107 – Spot on.

Whether you support same-sex marriage or not, here's a question: How do you suppose our country should afford the benefits provided for the influx of same-sex couples at this time?

Great language and use of intelligent commentary. Love is available to us all. There can be no restriction by anyone regarding who we may love or not love. Sex is a another issue. We can love whom we want to love with no restrictions; just don't make it all about sex. There is so much more. Man loving man or woman loving woman is not sexual. Figure it out and you have the answer. Thanks.
