Such a tragic loss. He was far too young.
CNBC business news host Mark Haines passed away last night at 65 years old. The cause of his death has yet to be announced.
The veteran news anchor was well known for hosting both Squawk Box and Squawk on the Street on CNBC. He also had a position on MSNBC's Morning Joe, where he did a daily "pre-market opening update."
As a tribute to the man who was so well respected in the business/finance world, the New York Stock Exchange observed a moment of silence this morning in memoriam of Haines.
Here's what CNBC President Mark Hoffman had to say about the veteran anchor:
"With his searing wit, profound insight and piercing interview style, he was a constant and trusted presence in business news. He was the unflappable pro. He loved CNBC and we loved him back. He will be deeply missed."
Very nice words. It is clear that he will be missed, but fondly remembered.
Our thoughts go out to Mark Haines' family, friends, colleagues, and everyone who tuned in daily to watch him deliver the news.
