Brad Pitt Talks Parenting, Admits Mistakes

brad pitt talks parenting

As we said last week, we think you and Angie are probs pretty good parents, Brad!

During a recent interview, Brad Pitt opened up about parenting, and admitted that he makes some mistakes:

"Not [like I'm] a horrible parent, but I've certainly made mistakes and had to make up for it."

Here's Brad on how he raises his kids, in comparison to the abusive father he plays in The Tree of Life:

"I certainly don't raise my kids that same way. I'm painfully aware that my actions leave a double mark on them in these formidable years, so I make sure I don't bring my crap at home."

More from Brad on how he wants to raise his kids:

"I want to keep them free to explore that innocence as long as possible and find out what's really interesting to them. I just don't want to encumber them in any way."

And Brad on whether or not he and Angie want their kids to be actors:

"Listen, I just want them to follow their bliss. Whatever makes them happy."

We all make mistakes, Brad, but we've gotta say overall it seems like you're doing a pret-ty solid job.

Keep up the good work!

From what you've heard, do U think Brad Pitt is a good parent?

“Follow their bliss”?? “Whatever makes them happy”? Great parenting Bratt and Crapelina!! Just let them be cutters – drug addicts if they want – as long as it makes them happy! Even cheat and lie.. hey whatever… losers…

Re: Tink66 – although I know nothing about how they raise their kids (since they do a good job of shielding them from the paps, which I commend them for because the kids didn't ask for the fame), Brad sounds not only high during the interview, but like he lets his kids do whatever they want. there's a difference between letting kids be kids and letting them raise themselves. you gotta teach them right from wrong and how to behave and how to be responsible, but from what he's saying, his kids aren't going to learn anything about the real world if they're spoiled rotten. I have no hope that Satan Ange teaches her kids morals, but I'd expect better from Brad, the saner of the two. except the Brad from the past few years seems to think hygiene isn't a daily thing, that smoking and looking like a hippie is an amazing life choice. I don't see an adult when I look at Brad; I see a man in a perpetual midlife crisis. please don't mess up those kids!

"formidable years"?…It's "formative years"…Although if Angelina Jolie were my mom perhaps there is no mistake in that sentence.

Formative years, not formidable, lol, but I know what he meant and understand where he's coming from. Leaving the crap elsewhere is great, but kids do need to know that other people have boundaries as their parents won't always be there. There are some great books out there full of great suggestions for functional, positive tools to help and guide parents to help and guide their kids. Seat of the pants is often not enough an can really come back and bite you on the butt, just saying. Love is the most important thing, and if kids get that, you're halfway there.

"Follow Your Bliss" nice Joseph Campbell quote Brad!

I think he meant "formative" more than "formiddable" what a himbo…

Brad looks good, and will do great job as parent.
I think, it is great how much awareness they brought to an adoption issue.

Re: futuremrslabeouf – Honestly, their parenting can't be any worse than what they would have received had they not been adopted.
