It was so hard yesterday to say goodbye to Oprah Winfreyand the show that made her a household name. To her credit, the hour was one of the best episodes in the history of her show. We were moved. We were touched. We were crying so hard, we had to rewind the DVR for the final 3 minutes because our sobs drowned out the TV.
Embarrassing? Not remotely, since we know we weren't alone. According to the preliminary numbers, yesterday's farewell show was the highest-rated broadcast of Big O's show in 17 years. It posted a 13.3 household rating in the overnight metered markets and more than doubled its recent averages. That means there were millions upon millions of other people weeping shamelessly at their flat-screens just like us yesterday.
We could all use a hug! Oprah, where are you???
P.S. - In case you missed it, check out the HIGHlights of her farewell episode (above)
According to sources, they just signed a contract with rocker grrrl Gwen Stefani!!!!
Yup, that's right, the ultra-talented lead singer of No Doubt will sit in a judge's chair on season 7 of The Voice while Xtina, well, stays at home and keeps busy with that whole miracle of life thing!
