Oprah Leaves Us On A High Note And BIG Ratings!

| Filed under: TV NewsOprah Winfrey

It was so hard yesterday to say goodbye to Oprah Winfrey and the show that made her a household name. To her credit, the hour was one of the best episodes in the history of her show. We were moved. We were touched. We were crying so hard, we had to rewind the DVR for the final 3 minutes because our sobs drowned out the TV.

Embarrassing? Not remotely, since we know we weren't alone. According to the preliminary numbers, yesterday's farewell show was the highest-rated broadcast of Big O's show in 17 years. It posted a 13.3 household rating in the overnight metered markets and more than doubled its recent averages. That means there were millions upon millions of other people weeping shamelessly at their flat-screens just like us yesterday.

We could all use a hug! Oprah, where are you???

P.S. - In case you missed it, check out the HIGHlights of her farewell episode (above)

Buh-bye and see ya later O! I started tuning out of her show years ago, her ego kept getting bigger and bigger and it was all about "look at me!"
    Good riddance.

While I recognize what this woman has done to change the culture, this last week was soooooo too much. I watched the last show yesterday and had to tune out several times when the whole thing got too preachy, too touchy-feely, and just too damn praise-the-lordy. A simple thank you and good bye would have sufficed and been much more classy. I didn't need a televised funeral. The wake was enough.
