Mitt Romney Is Officially Running For President

mitt romney running for president

Is it possible we could end up with a Twilight fanboy in the White House in 2012???

Yesterday, we caught a Mitt Romney interview on The Today Show, where the presidential candidate admitted that he read Twilight, and seemed pret-ty enthusiastic about it.

When he's NOT reading the Twilight books though, Romney's got a keen interest in politics too, and the man has officially announced that he'll be running for President in the 2012 race.

Here's what a senior Romney adviser had to say about the focus of the Republican candidate's Presidential run:

"Mitt Romney will talk about the number one issue facing the nation, and the reason he is compelled to get into this race - jobs and the economy. We are in the third year of Obama's presidency, and he has failed to lift the nation out of its economic downturn."

"Mitt Romney, from a lifetime spent in the private sector, has the skills and the ability to lead an economic turnaround."

And here's Romney on his desire to build jobs in the U.S.:

"From my first day in office my number one job will be to see that America once again is number one in job creation."

Between running for president and the upcoming release of Breaking Dawn, we'd say that Romney's got a busy/exciting few months ahead of him!

Team Romney or Team Obama?

I really like both Gov. Romney and President Obama. They're both intelligent and dignified and they seem to focus on the issues rather than petty differences. I think Mitt's the best the Republicans have, he's proven himself repeatedly as a businessman but I think the Prez. brings a lot to the plate, too. It's great when an election has two worthy opponents. Palin and Gingrich are HORRENDOUS!

  3. 3

    Trump 2012!

    Oy.

  5. 5

  9. 9

    Go, Mitt!

  10. 10

Romney is probably the best choice for the republicans at this time.

  11. 11

Romney will fuck up like he did in 2008.
Spend all his money and still come in 3rd place.

is he even qualified…what community did he organize? isn't he a successful business man? didn't he make a record $100 million for the US in the '02 Olympics? damn, he even knows how to manage a budget and cut spending! he has even managaed and led people. we don't need a guy like this in office do we?

  13. 13

    Yawn!

  14. 14

no tump and palin, then im good

  15. 15

Hey, at least Obama didn't tie the family dog to the top of the car when they headed to vacation!

  16. 16

Re: lxoxoxo – No because in Kenya they eat the family dog.

  17. 17

Obama all the way but Romney is not that bad - better than Palin!

  18. 18

Tie HIM to the top of his campaign bus

  19. 19

I've read several recaps of his recent speech but haven't seen even a hint at the way he'd go about doing what he's saying. If it's going to happen from day one, where is the plan? What are the ideas?

  20. 20

I hope Palin decides to NEVER run. I might just die if she did.

  21. 21

Think I'd go with Obama given a choice between the 2. republicans have been spending too much time trying to undermine women's rights as of late. Also republicans are so homophobic. a real turn off. So, Obama.

  22. 22

Re: Barney – Oh Please! the only thing Palin is running is her mouth.

Re: MissJosette – damn! i'll work on it

  26. 26

Re: buck – It's fine that you don't like Obama. I don't care at all. But it's silly revisionist history to say that Obama didn't lay out a plan of what he was going to do. He did. And he put it in motion.
All I've heard from Mitt is that he has magic underwear and that we need to fix the jobs and the economy. No specifics.

  27. 27

I think he's kinda hot for an old guy…and a Morman!

Re: joebobjimjack – Hope is not a plan, Change is not a destination. Obama fooled everyone. Lets just all be happy this experiment will be over in 17 short months, and hopefully no more damag will be done. Keep him on the golf course or on vacation or throwing parties and we should make it through.

Re: buck – and this round goes to BUCK!!

  31. 31

will there be enough room in the white house for all of his sister wives? uh, whatever happened to wesley clark? meeeow. if im going to have a president screw up the country, at least i can have something nice to look at. but in all seriousness, palin is the anti-christ and romney will only send the country backwards. im still keeping my fingers crossed for gore…..one of these days.

    32

I like them both, and like Ron Paul a lot more.

  33. 33

Re: buck – yea, he really got us good with that whole osama thing. man what an evil trickster,, secretly having the worlds biggest terrorist killed and not telling us about it. i feel so deceived.

  34. 34

    Re: joebobjimjack

Buck is the typical conservative puss*y fart who loves to troll this site.

  35. 35

Re: buck – Buck is just like a conservative, happy to talk around an issue, but can't back anything up and relies on trying to spin things into nifty little catch phrases. So, how about we deal in SPECIFICS Buck? Obama said he was going to end the wars. Didn't happen, but we did pull out a lot of troops. Oh, and he also happened to catch a guy that Bush had been looking for since 2001. He said he would pass a bill to give healthcare to the 44 million that didn't have it. You may not like the package, but he DID IT. Improve foreign relations, CHECK. Foreclosure moratorium, CHECK. Consumer advocacy agency, CHECK. Close Guantanamo, in progress. He signed the bill. We can't find countries willing to accept some of the remaining prisoners.

Are you following me, Buck? These are talking points that he addressed in the campaign and that he's worked on or completed. There are many other positive and negative examples. I'm not trying to make you an Obama fan, I already said, I really don't care who you like. But this is my 2nd response directly to you and my 3rd attempt at getting a question answered directly by a conservative.

WHAT ARE MITT'S SPECIFIC IDEAS??? You poke fun at Hope and Change. Well, all Mitt has provided so far is saying that we need to fix jobs and the economy. Sounds a whole lot like little substance and simple propagation of the ideas of hope and change, doesn't it there, Buck?

  36. 36

    SEEMS LIKE A DECENT MAN
    .
    AND RELIGION DOESN'T MATTER
    .
MORMAN IS CHRISTIAN AND THAT IS ALL PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW

  37. 37

    Re: joebobjimjack
Obama never really gave many solid ideas or details even up to the point of Hillary Clinton being pushed aside
he just preached hope and change-fuzzy and warm -but no real substance in putting forth factual working plans
    .
had he have been hawking Obamacare as the change and told us how he was going to ram it through,
or had he told us how he's spend the country into more debt without the country recovering finalcially
some may not have voted for him
    .

  38. 38

    America needs to stop BO.

  39. 39

    Re: patcee
guess some ignorant people will never understand that Mormons now do not have multiple wives..
    .
By 1910 the Latter Day Saints Church (Mormon church) excommunicated those who entered into, or performed, new plural marriages–so that was the end of polygamy
    .
Polygamists today are often referred to as "Mormon fundamentalist" even though they are not a part of the Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormon church)
    .
ROMNEY IS A CHRISTIAN..whether Mormon, Anglican, Lutheran, Roman Catholic, Presbyterian etc.

  40. 40

Re: *Sloane – Revisionist history. He talked about medical care from DAY ONE. I just gave examples of many of his campaign talking points about what he was going to do. Try reading them again.

Also, read up on the debt. Yes, it's gone up under Obama. To pay for the multiple wars and housing crises that were created under Bush…who raised the debt a whole heck of a lot more than Obama has trying to clean up his mess.

We'd be in a better position if everyone wasn't so keen on all the richest 1% of the country getting to keep every cent and not paying taxes. But no…Repubs just want to keep cutting the taxes so that it continues to be a remarkably disproportionate percentage of taxes that the other 99% of the people pay. You'll notice that I said percentage, not actual dollars.

  41. 41

Re: *Sloane – You just said religion doesn't matter. I guess you mean as long as it's a Christian faith, it doesn't matter, huh?

  42. 42

TEAM ROMNEY. (Team Anyone But Obama)

  43. 43

    Mitt Boring!!

  44. 44

@fedup1964 - what are you 12? You have to be, because that was such a ridiculous comment.

  45. 45

IF HE READ TWILIGHT AND HE LIKE IT WE'RE FUCKED, CAUSE TWILIGHT IS THE WORST MORE PRECARIOUS BOOK I'VE EVER READ!!!!

  46. 46

Re: MissJosette – I'm sorry, tell me again what "right" you don't have…the one to kill an unborn baby?? Not hardly a right…
I like both candidates honestly. It will be interesting to see how everything shapes up!

  47. 47

Re: CaylaC – Your apparent wish for *small government* shall never be so small as to fit into my doctor's visit and/or inside my or either of my 2 daughter's uteruses. Thanks for caring though.

  48. 48

Re: CaylaC – I'm sorry. That ^^ did not come across the way I meant. Just that a woman's right to confidential health care is very important to me. not a fan of organised religion either.
And yes, it will be interesting to see who will run against Obama

  49. 49

Mitt Romney would be great for the job. He actually focuses on the issues unlike the Palin blame game. She would make a TERRIBLE president.

  50. 50

    team Ron Paul

  51. 51

Thank heavens most Twilight fans aren't old enough to vote yet! If they are, then they're uber immature! Obama is a huge Potterhead-and he won-do you get what I'm saying? Just kidding, just kidding. Seriuosly, a republican is the worst thing for our country. I mean, it's a fact that most republicans are rich and wealthy, so taxes would be cut for the rich and raised for the poor. It's a fact that most republicans favor the wars in the middle east. So, if you got sent home, prepare to go back in to 2012. Obama turned our country around. Yeah, our country isn't as everyone wants it to be, but he got handed a pile of shit and he took care of most of it. At least our country is getting better, very slowly, but it's not getting worse. My pride came back when Obama was elected.

  52. 52

Hilarious!!! Republicans ran the the "jobs" issue in the 2010 mid-term elections. Oh, it was jobs jobs jobs! That's all they cared about. And since then have they even PRETENDED to introduce any legislation that would improve the job market? Does ending Medicare create jobs? Do tax cuts for the top 1% create jobs? They went straight from "jobs" to the deficit as being their number one issue. And addressing the nation's debt (which they created with unfunded wars, tax cuts and Medicare part B)adds jobs how? REALLY FUNNY! Oh, and hi to all the closet case Republicans who visit this site. You like the empty suit that is Romney? Hilarious!!

  53. 53

He still hasn't said where he stands on Medicare, plus, he's not well liked by his fellow front runners. Who tried to steal his big announcement thunder? Giulianni and Palin (neither one could win. Rudy because he's Pro-Choice and Palin because she's divisive and stupid).

  54. 54

Re: MissJosette – What's Obama doing for gay marriage? Oh, that's right, NOTHING. It appears he's homophobic, too. If he weren't he would be trying to make headway in the issue.

  55. 55

Re: joebobjimjack – Really, because all I heard from Obama was "change, change, change"… and nothing else. Just change. I remember thinking through the whole campaign, "change WHAT?" I never got my answer. In fact, I'm still waiting for it.
