    Re: yeaman
You do know that Adele or Taylor or GaGa do not set prices. If you guys really have such a problem with a 99c mp3, (which, had it been any artist who it was done to first, I doubt it would be such a huge issue with some of you people), then complain to Amazon who reduced it to that price. If the mp3s sold were higher than the average mp3, you'd all be bitching that she doesn't care about the fans to reduce the prices of her music.
If I go to a store and find a suit that I saw higher at another store, do you think I'm going to blame the label who makes the suit for "selling it" for a lower price at another store? I mean, really..you can find more things sad in this world than people putting GaGa on a pedestal, which is their right to do so, and something you have no control over.

Perhaps you misunderstood Roberto1's post. He's saying the 99c sale didn't have an impact on people buying it WW. Yes, 440,000 copies do count in the worldwide total of 2 mil (no one is saying it didn't), but that's only 22% of WW sales, and as the album keeps selling from week to week that percentage will keep getting smaller and smaller. Just in the US alone, the 99c sale contributed last week to 40% of the 1.11 mil albums total sold. If the predictions are true that BTW will sell 200 grand by the end of this week, that will put the total albums sold in the US at roughly 1.31 mil, bringing the percentage sold at 99c sold to roughly 33%. If it eventually sells 3 million here, that percentage will be 15% and so on. And who are you to say it's not a big achievement? There are people in the industry more qualified than you who are saying it is. And even if the album is the biggest sales drop in music history, it still managed to maintain its #1 spot. :) I don't see where you're getting that Billboard is part of this hype machine. They have nothing to gain with her being at #1.

Re: POPSCIDICTATOR – hahahahah pretty much! she could queef in a friggin microphone and this bitches would eat that up! oh well, to each his own i guess.:)

Re: Glamour_is_the_Life – yeah but there are so many amazing women singer songwriters in this business (tori amos, sheryl crow, fiona apple, bjork, etc.) that are very eccentric but have all stayed true to who they are and let the music stand on it's own without any gimmicks.gaga is brillant at marketing i will give her that much, but musically she doesn't hold a candle to any of the ladies i mentioned.i feel if she focused more on her music she could amazing. but it seems she'd rather make then money, which is why she is the way she is.the sad reality is that if your songwriting is not strong enough dance pop is where you will thrive, sad but true.

Re: Dessa – no, adele has substance, gaga is seriously lacking in that department, that's why adeles so popular.substance and power vocals will always win.

    Re: Pisky
What rule needed to be changed? That a retailer couldn't sell an album less than a certain price? Even if the rules were changed at the last minute, BTW would have still debuted at #1, so the rules really didn't call for any changing. The Eagles were the ones who contested the Billboard policy, and rightly so, because their album, despite only being sold at Walmart, outsold Britney's album 2:1 the first week. As far as I know, no music artist called for a change in the policy of counting the 99c album as sales…just a bunch of pissed off Britney fans.

  8. 108

Half of you are straight up idiotic.

Amazon offered the album at 99cents, not Gaga. Amazon paid the difference to promote their Cloud service. THEY used the most talked about album of the year to draw attention to themselves.

Madonna is a legend, and it will never change. Lady Gaga is on her way whether you all like it or not, and the funny thing is= a good chunk of you will claim you always liked her all those years to your kids one day. Its sorta like how Michael went from being mocked and neglected in his later years to pure gold to EVERYONE once he died. You are all a bunch of pessimistic negative asshats. Get over yourselves, stop hating, and be glad that the world is given people to entertain us generation after generation.

    Bitter idiots.

lady gaga is the new queen of pop

  10. 110

Re: DarkAdaptedEye – And yet people think she is so amazing because her album "came out on top." When in reality, her album does not hold a candle to her last album.

  11. 111

well duh ofcourse we saw it coming! when a product is 99 cents for a certain period then ofcourse it's going to sale like hot cakes; however, i don't consider this an achievement.

  12. 112

    Great Stuff - Love it :o )

  13. 113

If I were a gaga fan I would be embarrassed that my favorite is going to have a #1 debut in such a unfair manner. Its just not fair to artists like Taylor Swift, Britney, Eminem who rake in huge numbers with their CD's selling for regular price. smh

  14. 114

CHRISTINA AGUILERA RULES!!! Long live the Queen!!! Congrats to Gaga for out living my expectations of her being a one-hit wonder!!!!

  15. 115

to be honest i love gaga so much but over half them sales are from amazon 99cents even if u didnt like lady gaga you would of bought it for 99cents ay im not complaining best bargain ever for me! :D but i still think its kind of unfair concidering they wouldnt let britney do the same with blackout i recon they should do a period were blackout should be 99cents get brit that 7 number 1 albums :)

Re: GoodBoyNC – Ummm didn't you study economics? There is no such thing as a free lunch- someone somewhere paid for it.. and Perez didn't post about the party… some random commentor did.. and if you realllllly think Perez doesn't post about stuff thats here say.. you must be new to his site.

  17. 117

Re: Bonkers777 – you're probably flamboyantly gay…… only people who love and worship gaga are flambo gays and women/girls with self esteem issues :)

  18. 118

Re: **KC** – she would have debuted at #1 regardless ONLY because there were no other contenders.. if you are the only runner in a race you are bound to win.. please don't be so naive it is not a good look for you.

  19. 119

Re: damcconnell – the only pessimistic asshat around here is you. You look like a pompous bafoon assuming you know everything about everyone who posts a negative opinion of her. Get off your high horse and realize that lady gaga will nevererrrrrrr everrrrereereererqwruiwethqweiobga be like Michael Jackson.. please do not come back to perez hilton until your balls have dropped and you have something with substance to say.

"Ummm didn't you study economics? "
    Yes, I majored in Business!
"There is no such thing as a free lunch- someone somewhere paid for it.
Thank you for your rather profound insight as to how the business world works, but that was not my point. My point was, if the CDs were giveways at a CD launch party attended by celebrities, they were MOST LIKELY promo CDs, which do NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT count toward sales. The fact that someone had to pay for them is irrelevant.
"and Perez didn't post about the party… some random commentor did.."
I'm aware of that, as I have read the comment. I was responding to the comment you made to the said commentor (sic) that she must be making up facts since Perez didn't post about it.

    Re: MsJules
Well, you wear the stupid look well, my dear. There were plenty of artists out with new CDs the week BTW came out, including Brad Paisley and a Glee Soundtrack, which always tend to do well on the charts. Her album outsold the top ten combined, including Adele's, who's pretty much been a solid contender on the charts Do you honestly think if she had any "competition" out this week, her fans would have thought, "gee, should I or should I not buy the Lady GaGa CD or someone elses?" Do you think anyone else out there right now could have beat her had they released their CDs on the same day? Do you not think music fans are capable of liking more than one artist and buying more than one CD a week? We are not talking World Cup Championships here. It's not a competition; music fans are much more flexible than you're giving them credit for. You don't even sound smart when you TRY to sound smart.
