Tim Burton Talks Dark Shadows!

Excellent! We have a feeling he's really going to make this one something special!

Tim Burton, who has an exhibit launching at the El Lay County Museum of Art right now in honor, opened up about his plans for the film adaptation of Dark Shadows, and thankfully will not be recreating the disaster that was Alice in Wonderland and doing it in 3D, but will instead go for a more dark, ethereal tone to honor the original!

He explains:

“I have no plans for [3D]. I loved doing “Alice” in 3D. Frankeweenie, gonna do that in 3D. There’s people like, ‘Everything’s gonna be in 3D,’ or ‘I hate 3D!’ I think people should have a choice. I don’t think it should be forced on anybody. At the same time, it’s great, some of it. It’s been hard to kind of come here because I’m just starting, and it’s a weird tone and it’s a lot of actors and, you know, we’re not starting with the simple stuff; we’re sort of getting right in there. You like to kind of sneak up on it a little bit, but this one we just kind of slammed right into it…I’m early into it because it’s a funny tone, and that’s part of what the vibe of the show is, and there’s something about it that we want to get. But when you look at it, it’s pretty bad. I’m hoping that it will be — it’s early days, let’s put it — I’m very intrigued by the tone. It’s a real ethereal tone we’re trying to go for and I don’t know yet.”

Inneresting!

The show is certainly its own level of bizarre, so we imagine it must be difficult to tight-rope the line between camping it up and full-blown parody!

But if anyone can strike the right balance, it's him!

We want to see him go old-school Burton and bring the GOTHIC big-time this time around! Especially with the amount of talent this flick's cast has!

What do U think?? Are U looking forward to Dark Shadows??

I'm pretty sure Alice in Wonderland wasn't a disaster, what is wrong with you today?

Re: supandrea – exactly what i was thinking!

was perez always anti-alice? has he mentioned that on this site before? never noticed that. weird.

what do you mean a show at LACMA "in honor of"? The exhibit isn't about his new movie. It's a history of his whole life as a film maker, and is on it's 4TH VENUE. LA wasn't even an original planned venue for the show. Clearly they just saw that a great thing was happening in NYC, where the real arts are, and latched onto the trend. I'm glad MoMA saw Tim Burton for the fantastic film maker he is and that's where credit is due.

He never ever never ever thought Alice was a disaster! What a liar. You raved about it! That movie was fucking brilliant! Tim Burton does no wrong. Your flip flopping is getting annoying Perez.

I have my membership to Tim's exhibit but haven't had a chance to go. I

yes i dont see everything should be in 3d but they could do the jaws series in 3d

I just pray that Tim doesnt give Dark Shadows/Depp their usual Burton "look." It was bad enough having to sit through Sweeney Scissorhands Wonka Todd. Dark Shadows and Barnabas can stand on their own - let them.

Whatever Perez. Did your ass even go see the film or see it in 3D? It was one of the best 3D films I have since. It was the first 3D I had watched and haven't watched a good once since.

Plus the movie made tons of money. It was sold out for weeks. You had to get to the cinema 1 hr or earlier to get a ticket.

Re: Maleficent83 – Ya, about as bad as his flip flopping with celebrities like Britney. Britney should send him a big ole Tweet telling him to kiss her ass.
