Palin Supporters Try To Amend Wikipedia Page On Paul Revere With Her Version Of Events!

| Filed under: Wacky, Tacky & TruePolitikSad SadSarah Palin

It was only a matter of time!

Last week, Sarah Palin graced us all with her fascinating re-interpretation of what happened during Paul Revere's midnight ride, which apparently involved ringing bells and "warning the British," and we realized that we weren't sure what we were more afraid of: the fact that she will most likely run for President or the fact that there are many people who would actually vote for her!

Unfortunately, the former Governor of Alaska's supporters are already hard at work proving our speculation right, because they've apparently flooded Wikipedia page of Paul Revere, and are attempting to RE-WRITE history so Miz Palin's version of events is accurate!

Check out the discussion between the website's editors and Palin fans:

In the article on Paul Revere, someone has added false information in an effort to support Sarah Palin's FALSE claims about Paul Revere.
"Accounts differ regarding the method of alerting the colonists; the generally accepted position is that the warnings were verbal in nature, although one disputed account suggested that Revere rang bells during his ride.[8][9]" This must be removed as it is a LIE designed to mislead. dj

Dajames (talk) 14:46, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

A lie? If you follow Wikipedia's rules, we must maintain a WP:NEUTRAL position, representing the mainstream position as well as disputed versions. I think the addition represents this fairly — the mainstream position is that Revere's warnings were verbal, but there are differing accounts that the warnings were done with bells — with two sources: WDHD television plus a live interview, with a highly influential US politician relating these facts.–

Tomwsulcer (talk) 14:50, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Done. Thank you, I removed the content not backed by a reliable source. –CutOffTies (talk) 14:52, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

I kindly remind people that it's not our job here at Wikipedia to decide what's true, but to report what reliable sources say, such as the LA Times, WDHD TV in Boston, numerous others. And they quoted an American politician saying that bells were used. –Tomwsulcer (talk) 15:09, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Tomwsulcer - You should be kindly reminded that it’s not your job to debase Sarah Palin’s wiki page with (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Sarah_Palin) your version of the occurrence for political reasons. The left leaning bias on Wiki is well known, but these types attacks are over the top.

Mk (talk) 20:08, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

It's not the LA Times that's questionable as a reliable source, it's Palin herself. Even if the Times (& others) quoted her accurately, her off-hand, poorly-informed view doesn't belong here, per WP:UNDUE, and I have reverted.

Hertz1888 (talk) 15:30, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Sarah Palin is a former governor of Alaska as well as a presidential candidate of one of the two national parties in the United States. Her account of Paul Revere's famous ride has achieved national attention from most mainstream media — LA Times, CNN, you name it. There are numerous reliable sources quoted her exact words on this subject. This article has HUGE attention (55K readers in one day) as a result. Clearly, there should be some mention given its obvious importance. And I remind people, kindly, that it's not up to us contributors to determine who is and isn't a "poorly informed view" and to try to determine truth. Rather, Wikipedia is about verifiability.

–Tomwsulcer (talk) 15:37, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Here's Palin's remark via the LA Times & CNN: Sarah Palin on Paul Revere's ride
It doesn't tell the reader looking for information on Paul Revere anything useful. Vice Presidential candidate, please.

Hertz1888 (talk) 15:44, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

I agree with Hertz's edit, also please read wp:RECENT for yet another reason why this has no place here. –CutOffTies (talk) 16:16, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Paul Revere may have rang some bells on his ride, but does any mainstream historian believe that Paul Revere had any intent to warn or scare the British in any way? I have never heard this, except from Palin. All accounts I have read say that Revere and Dawes were trying their best to avoid being noticed by the British, who would likely capture them immediately if found.

–Westwind273 (talk) 15:49, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

The Lexington church apparently was one which rang its bell. [[4]]. Is all this of any great import at all? Collect (talk) 21:18, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Ha! Oh maaaaan.

This is just HIGHlarious!

Frankly, we're of the viewpoint that pretty much anything that comes out of Sarah Palin's mouth should be ignored and/or FORGOTTEN as quickly as possible, so throwing her 'Drunk History' version of events onto that man's Wikipedia page seems pretty pointless!

But hey! At least it was good for some LOLz!

What do U think? Should Palin's version of events be available for slacker high school/college kids to use as a source when writing last-minute papers?

every time she answer a question she sounds like that miss america contestant, "Like in south africa & iraq, such as…." such a dope.

  2. 2

It would be great if she got elected because it would bug you for four long years Mario.

  3. 3

LOL! What a bunch of stupid cun*ts.

  4. 4

Some professor from Suffolk University in MA was on NPR this afternoon and actually confirmed that Palin's version was accurate. Who knew?

  5. 5

Remember when our current president thought we had 58 states for 2 months on the campaign trail?….Yes politicians are twits when it comes down to it

  6. 6

Americans are stupid ignorant people. So of course they are going to vote for her!

  7. 7

The point wasn't whether or not her version was accurate, but that Wiki puts crap on their pages from anyone who submits it, all it has to do is have a couple people write about it. Much on Wiki is bullshit. And the person making the submission was correct in the fact that they are left leaning and are quick to post anything anti-Republican on their site without question (all the crap they put up about George W), but won't do the same equally.

Wow when did stupid be in fashion? Obviously Palin supporters are as dopey as their hero.

Note to self. Call Joh McCain's office tomorrow and tell him how disgusted I am that his poor choice unleashed Godzilla from Wasilla on the good people of America.

  9. 9

The stupid ass press follows this woman around like her lap dog. The idiots who think she is smart are actually dumber than she is. McCain will go down in history as one dumb ass who introduced her to the world. She's the best thing that ever happened to the Republicans. She's also the best thing that ever happened to the Democrats. Too bad an avocado is smarter than she is.

  10. 10

People are so stupid. I don't think people realize that before the revolutionary war, the people of Boston thought that they themselves were British as well.

So in reality Revere went on horseback to Warn John Adams and John Hancock that "the redcoats were coming."

  11. 11

The liberal media are scared to death of her because deep down they know
she is ten times smarter than Obama. Perez, you should focus on things you know,
like sucking cock and taking it up the ass. Idiot.

    Re: Real American

LMAO " Real American". Stop defending the half term, half twit. Asking questions like "what do you read" or "what did you learn today" is not a gotcha question.

  13. 13

Re: Real American – She called the Revere question a "gotcha question". How does this make her smarter than Obama? How does this make her smarter than a fifth grader?

  14. 14

I hate to break it to you, but people really need a history lesson. Palin's "version of events" is actually correct. Go fkn learn something you idiot..

  15. 15

I was aware of this previously and all I can say is oh my god….

  16. 16

This woman is dangerous and I am overwhelmed and horrified people would/may actually vote for her.

  17. 17

Re: Twoboys2 – When did stupid BE in fashion? Well i guess you can answer your own question…..

  18. 18

Palin and her followers are the embodiment of the dumbing down of America.

  19. 19

Ahhhh so i post a comment with the link from NPR confirming her "version" to be correct and it's not approved. Now that's f****d up!

  20. 20

For the record, i am a democrat and i say Palin's story is correct. Your political views have nothing to do with the truth in history, and she's telling the truth..

  21. 21

'Someone I'v heard of said it so it must be true' is not a reliable source. If Nadine Dorries or Boris Johnson (our Sarah Palins) suddenly announced that London was built by Romulus and Remus with help from the Twilight wolf pack we would not change wikipedia to reflect that. We would tell them that they are wrong.

  22. 22

The Los Angeles Times said it best with this headline yesterday, "You know how Sarah Palin said Paul Revere warned the British? Well, he did. Now, who looks stupid?"

  23. uyeah says – reply to this

Perez you idiot, it's already been verified that everything she said was true! Are you the last to know? Paul Revere was captured by the British and DID warn them that they were not going to be able to disarm the Americans!! You liberal idiots are too dumb to know when you're wrong!! Forget the facts, just let mob mentality rule! Rush to judgment even when your wrong, but give a pass to Dumbama saying there are 57 states.

Re: bruins fan – Like Obama, doing his best to destroy the country so he can remake it as communist is not dangerous? How specifically is she dangerous? Liberals spout insulting generalities with ZERO facts to back it up. She's dumb? She served years on city councils, as a mayor and as a governor vs your hero being a community organizer for ACORN, a criminal organization that he now distances himself from. He was their LAWYER for years and taught them how to operate. Why do you give the most inept president a pass and rage against a woman who wants America to be prosperous and great again? The opposite of what Obama wants? Who are the stupid ones? Willfully ignorant mobs.

  25. uyeah says – reply to this

Re: smuglysmiling – No you gangster liberals are. Why do you think Obama is against private schools? They want to continue to teach propaganda in the public schools. you stupid liberal can throw out baseless insults all day long. Try contributing a fact once in a while. When you do, it's a lie typically.

    Re: Real American
She's not smarter, nor are her supporters(case in point ,you).Does she have a following ,yes. They include the following:White Supremicist,NRA Members, people that are illiterate, people that are threatened by change or eduction, perverts, and idiots that blindly follow people because they like hearing dumb phrases like"Darn Tootin",or Gee Golly. The bitch is not only an idiot ,but arrogant.Every week it's the dumb comment of the day from Sarah Palin. So are people concerned about her potential election?Yes,but not because she's a mental threat it's because she has the support from a barage of idiots who are gun happy,sh*t kicker hat wearing, cousin fu*kers, who prbably could'nt pick out there own state on a map.Yes,there is concern,if asked this bitch could probably fu*ck up her own phone number.
