Boo! GaGa's Born This Way Gets Banned In Lebanon

| Filed under: Music MinutePolitikSad SadLady GaGa

born this way banned in lebanon

Not cool, Lebanon!

Lady GaGa's Born This Way may be the fastest-selling album of the year so far, but that's not stopping the government of Lebanon from banning the album from stores.

According to reports, Lebanon's government chose to ban the album due to its "alleged insults to Christianity" and "its all around 'bad taste.'"

Such a disappointing move! Maybe the folks in Lebanon who want to hear Born This Way can download the album off of iTunes or Amazon. Is it also banned from digital stores???

If so, they COULD always download the songs and get creative with the file names. Just re-title everything from "Lady GaGa - Born This Way" to "Dave Matthews Band - Before These Crowded Streets." Ha!

A classic Dave CD doesn't seem suspicious at all…does it?

What do U think about GaGa's Born This Way being banned in Lebanon?

    Haha. Good.

  2. 2

    Smart country. The album sucks!

  3. 3

    Just gained respect for Lebann

  4. 4

well lebanon was the only arabic country that showed broke back mountain in its' theaters so you can't say they are close minded but born this way really attacks and disrespects christianity so the government banned it to prevent any legal trouble.

  5. 5

Horrible, everyone that says this is a good thing should learn better. This is not about the album, this is about people actually believing there is a God and that he is ruling over us all and we can't live free. I feel sorry for those in Lebanon, can't live their own lives.
BTW, again, this is not about the album (Love it BTW), but instead of banning it, why don't you just let it be and let those who want to buy it buy it instead of controlling someone's religion and believe! If the people thought it was offensive they wont buy it, simple as that.

What do I think? I think you should shut the fuck up! Be thankful for what you have here and stop trying to push your westernized thinking on everyone.

  7. 7

With the culture of the country it does make sense. To say that it isn't fair that they aren't 'free' to live the way they want to is close minded and assumes that everyone wants to live like we do. In the middle east religion is like a part of their blood, it is impossible to separate it from who they are and to say that religion and life are different is an insult to their culture. I can understand banning an album which does attack religion due to the fact that it would avoid any conflict from the album. We just have to remember that not everyone wants the American ideal of freedom.

  8. 8

I am Lebanese and I support the decision of our government, Gaga's song "Judas" is very offensive to us Christians.
We live our freedom in Lebanon specially when it concerns religions and the speaking of minds, but I think Gaga just crossed the line.

hehe…and this ban does not even add any "coolness" to that simply boring album ..(if you try to imply that idea by this post,Perezita)…

  10. 10

    Good for them.

  11. 11

Re: Glamour_is_the_Life – Congratulations for being tolerant. Oh no wait… how about you let the people decide whether their belief in God is 'horrible' or not, and not make assumptions yourself. Being a part of a religion does not mean you are not 'free.' It's a personal choice. Besides, it wont be hard to get hold of the album if they want it…

  12. 12

    Fuck Lebanon
She is just making music and people of Lebanon need to get a clue.
    this is soo fucking stupid
I would fucking sue Lebanon for this heinous crime
    love u lady gaga

  16. 16

Re: Glamour_is_the_Life – America lives free?? BWAHAHAHA thats the funniest thing I have heard all day! There is a difference honey between "living free" and being self indulgent slobs.

  17. 17

Re: Voivode – Please read my previous post. People should be free to live by their beliefs but on an INDIVIDUALISTIC CASE, not in general.

  18. 18

Too bad she isn't banned from this site!

  19. 19

SHE should be banned everywhere. She is a sad person. She needs professional help and also she is a phoney. The picture is the stupidest picture I have ever seen. The End.

  20. 20

i would rather have DMB Before These Crowded Streets than Born This Way on my itunes anyday…. oh wait… i do.

  21. 21

HA HA good for that cheap whore cocaine using cockroach…she even admits to getting hit and doing Marijuana while thinking of music…what a tranny joke

  22. 22

Manipulated this way by the corporate Illuminati to corrupt society.

  23. 23

they're so lucky! More countries should follow suit! I thought Gaga was 'ok' when she first came out, but now she's just a p**s take of herself. The girl craves attention, and without it would crumble away. She is not very musically talented, but is a good entertainer. Judas is an atrociously woeful song. She needs to go back to the music and forget the gimmicks. I still wouldn't buy any of her music though.

  24. 24

Re: Glamour_is_the_Life – Yeah, the way this flop is selling Gaga needs all the help she can get.

  25. 25

Re: hottbitch – Lmao, sue Lebanon. Gaga's fans are such juvenile airheads.

  26. 26

Hey Hilton, when are you going to comment on the 60 Minutes interview from the weekend, where she says she smokes a lot of weed and drinks a lot of whiskey when she's writing. Sounds like a great role model, someone to really look up to. You'd be all over that story if it was anyone else douchebag.

Lebanon is a very open minded country compared to the rest of the other arab countries. They're actually premiering the first 3D movie about a prostitute and stuf, kind of like diaries of a call girl, so you can't say it is close minded. But one thing about the lebanese you have to know is that religion is a very touchy subject. It's a country that's been plagued by sectarian violence, so you can't blame them for wanting to avoid such troubles. If any lebanese wants to hear the album, it's very easy to download it illegally since there are no clear rules regarding pirated copies and such in Lebanon…

Funny though, cause Lady gaga included Lebanese in her song. LOL

    28

    Re: Glamour_is_the_Life
Lebanese are happy the way they are including religion in their way of life. I think it's offensive that you think they are not 'free'. If any lebanese wants to hear the album, youtube perfect place to listen. Let people live their own lives, they are just not going to endorse the albums in stores.
Plus honestly, let's not forget Lebanon isn't the only country in the world to have banned something because they think it's offensive….

  29. 29

Re: Hairplugs for Hilton – Thanks, Hairplugs! You just said a mouthful. Most people on this site can't get away with smoking a cigarette ("icky-poo"), but Gagag gets a free pass on her drug addiction and alcoholism because she marches in gay parades.

  30. 30

Lebanese references Gaga made are extremely stupid, so no wonder they didn't like it.

  31. 31

    haa! lucky lebanon!

  32. 32

It's banned in my house too!

  33. 33

she should be banned from earth

  34. china says – reply to this

    34

it IS "all around bad taste", there`s no denying. smart country.

  35. 35

It should be a worldwide ban….for shitness

    36

Baahh , no excuses here . Lebanon is officially the dumbest country on Earth :)
I'm Lebanese, I don't like Lady Gaga's new album and even I think it's stupid ! It's not banned on iTunes yet by the way, but I wouldn't be surprised if it does .

  37. 37

Re: Voivode – What I meant was why don't you let the people decide what is offensive instead of letting those religions people that rules decide that. That is horrible, deciding something like that. I'm not mean the album at all but that the country can't decide something like that themselves that involves religion. I'm a christian, I don't think its horrible or offensive, but people like that as well as many others makes me want to pull out of the church. Lady GaGa has nothing to do with that, it can be anything, hell, even if this was my least favorite artist I would fell the same thing. Don't like her, that's fine but I wasn't really talking about her here but the freedom of choice in the country. Just because you are religious doesn't mean you feel the same thing. Thinks it offensive, doesn't mean the whole country does and you don't have to ban it.

  38. 38

Re: Heaven_Oblivion_Bliss – Don't live in America so how should I know?
But my country is pretty much free, we have religion (christian) but that doesn't mean we ban anything we think is offensive but we let the people decide that for themselves because we can do that ourselves.
Re: Hairplugs for Hilton – Wasn't talking about her, but the country, it could have been anyone, I would feel the same thing. It's up to the country deice, and by that I mean every single one of them. Not everyone thinks it offensive.
Re: LeenB – I still thinks its wrong, they think it's offensive, don't buy it at all. Let those who want to buy it buy it. If everyone thinks its offensive and wont buy it? What's the problem then?

    39

Good on them for having standards and calling ca ca on ga ga.

  40. 40

Re: dennis789 – An excellent idea.

  41. 41

Whether people like or dislike the album censorship is NEVER the answer. If people like it they should be allowed to buy it!

  42. 42

That cover alone is demonic and no has no shock value! YAWN. Go Lebanon!

  43. 43

How else can they remain a backward nation if they don't deny the present let alone look towards the future. Stupid is, as stupid does.

  44. 44

Not every country supports her off the wall antics and her attempts to be controversial. I think the world should follow suit- save us from having to deal with her and hear this shiteoues album.

  45. 45

Re: hottbitch – can I sue you for being incredibly moronic?

  46. 46

LOL! One of the sluttiest girls I knew in college was from Lebanon.

  47. 47

Well so far Gaga fans in Lebanon aren't very happy…well…not at all…but the good thing is that it's easy to get it in any kind of way. So…chillax…the government never stopped us from doing anything ;)

  48. 48

Well, they got the "bad taste" part right. This album is awful. No wonder it was sold for 99 cents on Amazon. -shudder-

  49. 49

Lebanon is a shithole but at least they don't have to listen to Madonna's retarded copycat.

  50. 50

i Am a lebanese but i still love gaga and i want them to allow the sales.. that's not fair , were okay with that.i dont want anyone to think we hate gaga because of the goverment but i guess like perez said we can buy them on itunes.. we love u gaga dont take it the wrong way

  51. 51

    Re: hottbitch
    You wanna sue LEBANON?????????????????????

WOW …. XD Tell me how that works out .. xD

  52. 52

Those religious bigots in that shithole are so stupid! I went there once and i went to a record store and guess what? They had Marilyn Mason, Slayer. Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath (Ozzy too) and they are more offensive and anti-religion than lady Gaga!! I'm not Gaga's fan but this kind of actions will make her bigger than she is right now!

  53. @v@ says – reply to this

    53

Their cultural and spiritual values do not seem to align with Gaga's vision. As an always supporter of her musicality, I have also found some of her representation to be in bad taste.

  54. 54

Perez Mario Hilton!! You're an idiot!!! You need to respect other countries belief.!! you kiss ass!

  55. 55

all the lebos can come to my house and ill play them the cd :D

  56. 56

There are so many bi-sexual men/gay men in Lebanon it's inconprehensible how they could live and function in that climate.

  57. 57

haha, good news, it should be banned in more countries for being soo bad, her album is an insult to real music

  58. 58

good.this album is terrible in every way possible.

  59. 59

Good worst album of the YEAR so FAR!!!

  60. 60

Week Ending June 5, 2011.Lady Gaga's Born This Way set another record this week, but not one that Gaga's team will be happy about. Sales of the album dropped off by 84% from its sizzling (but discount-inflated) opening week. That's the the steepest drop-off in sales, expressed in a percentage basis, of any of the 17 albums that sold 1 million units in a week in Nielsen SoundScan history.Gaga's album sold 174,000 copies this week, down from 1,108,000 last week, when sales were goosed by a two-day, 99-cent sale at Amazon.

  61. 61

The double standards being exuded on these comments are so blatant it's disgusting. If it was Islam being insulted here you'd all bash it relentlessly and bang the drums for world war 3 against Islam. Pathetic. Good for Lebanon, but you're all truly pathetic.

  62. 62

well that was a wise move have u NOT noticed the way she made fun of Religious beliefs in her video JUDAS?
