new poll shows that americans are the funniest

Sorry, Ricky Gervais! Looks like people enjoy the American version of The Office better! Ha!

According to a new global poll, Americans have been voted the most funny nationality…and Germans have been voted the least funny.

Here are some other rankings that came out of the poll:

- Spanish are the most amusing Europeans, and the second funniest nationality
- Italians are the third funniest nationality
- British are only the SEVENTH most funny nationality!

We smell a team-based question coming on…

Who do U think is the funniest? Team America (F**k yeah!)? Team Britain? ………..Team Germany?

of course is america the funniest, with all the silliness going around, and the kids the US has like wiener… we can have a good laugh about you guys.

Im team Germany.. eventhough boring, but at least they are more formal and less silly

  2. 2

I personally feel that the British are much funnier than Americans. However, there are too many ways to interpret humor. I feel any nationality can be funny. It will merely appeal to different people.

  3. 3

I think the Brits are hilarious. Gervais is one of my favorites.

  4. 4

    Laugh at or Laugh with…..

  5. 5

Of course the American version is better. Gervais isn't in it. Which is an instant win in my book. I do not see the appeal in him at all.

  6. 6

the British are way funnier. Hands down. Also, weiner isn't a funny word. It is a word that should only be said it an annoying American accent. Keep it to yourselves!!

  7. 7

I like British humor because its mostly immature dick/ass/fart/bathroom jokes. Makes me tehe

  8. 8

I think Britain is more funny, but then I enjoy their Office and the Monty Python humor.

  9. 9

I find British humour much funnier than American humour in general. American sit coms don't seem to know when to quit and go on far past their experation date, if you know what I mean. It seems that when most British sit coms end, they wrap up the story but leave you wanting it not to end. With most American sit coms, I either lose interest or thank Christ it's finally over!

  10. 10

you can't really translate humor, so it doesn't make sense to rank nations like that

  11. 11

Brits are so much funnier than Americans!

  12. 12

I think the American humor is lame, sometimes is kinda childish. British humor in my opinion is the best. I mean look at all the hilarious comedians there are in Britain; Ricky Gervais, Russel Brand, Michael McIntyre, John Cleese (the entire gang of Monthy Python), … There are so many British movies that are hilarious; Death at a funeral for example; HILARIOUS, but they made an American remake of it and it SUCKED big time. Seriously British humor is THE best. The only exception on American humor is; Ellen Degeneres and Friends

  13. 13

meh, america might have made a funnier version of the office, but lots of american shows are copies of english ones…LIKE THE OFFICE. lets be honest, both are funny, and both appeal to different people. i like both. anyway, this isn't about the people…we're talking about the tv shows each country makes. not the same thing.

  14. 14

Team Australia! Failing that, Team Britain.

  15. 15

well i think most american comedies are silly not funny, and i rarely get a good laugh (and I'm pretty quick to laugh). I think British movies are funnier

  16. 16

The british are without a doubt funnier than americans!
The only reason the american office is so good is that Ricky Gervais and Steven Merchant are the directors!!

  17. 17

I think the brits and americans are equally funny. But the British version of the office is so hard for me to watch. I am just so bored with it.

  18. 18

since Gervais makes money off either show doing well I doubt he cares-

  19. 19

Americans funny? They can't even handle to see two boys kissing and They make so much drama when someone says "fuck" on television =__=

Who voted? American's??? Granted there are lots of funny "American's" on TV/Movies but most of them are actually CANADIAN. Canadian's may seem much more reserved than American's but some of the best comedian's, actors, writers with a funny bone are Candian.. just sayin'.Canadian humour tends to be a little "smarter" like the Brits and not as easily appreciated

  21. 21

IS THIS A JOKE!? American humour is probably the most low, unintelligent humour there is. It lack wit and is so in your face, I can't help but cringe. Was this survey only conducted in America hahahaa! English office is hilarious, American's always copy everything and try to remake it…fail

  22. 22

Americans? LOL. LIke Adam Sandler, American Pie? Boring…

Of course Brits are the best, most British people I know have also excellent sarcastic sense of humour, and the most important thing is they can laugh at themselves. No other nation can do it better.

The only really funny movie from US I have seen recently is "I love you man". Excellent acting and hilarious script.

  23. 23

The British, the Irish and Canadians (and definitely and hounourable mention to Aussies and Kiwis) are the funniest nations in the Anglophone world.
British and Irish are hands down the funniest in Europe.
I have absolutely no clue about African and Asian comedy so I can't judge that :/

  24. 24

    Re: lucyisobel
    you're right
    All in the Family
    Sandford and Son
    just to name 2 more
a lot of people don't realize how many shows were taken from British comedy hits and given a bit of a twist for the US

  25. 25

    Re: pj88
    also agree with you
Canada has a wealth of comedic talent that have been huge hits in the US without having to use a ton of 4 letter words like say Chris rock /kathy Griffen/Chelsea Handler etc.
Seinfeld/Bill Cosby are 2 of the rare US comics - funny and keeping it clean..love them

  26. 26

Ha I'm a bit insulted that the Irish didn't make it in this :D British people are way funnier than Americans in my opinion.

  27. 27

British comedians are the funniest hands down.

The British often have a wittier sense of humour, whereas Americans more silly. I find both nationalities can equally be hilarious, but don't understand why British are seventh!

    Don't you remember south park!

  30. 30

This poll doesn't make any sense. How in the world do you rate how funny a country is? Do you count how often they laugh? Do you rate the jokes of an average person? Do you rank their comedy shows?
I'm from germany and I can tell you that we do laugh a lot and that there are many extremely funny people just like in any other country.
The only difference there might be is that we make sure our jokes aren't too offensive, given our past.

  31. 31

The problem is that Americans don't get British humour ;) The Aussies get it though. British and Aussie humour all the way. It actually takes brains to work it out, and isn't too 'obvious' and 'in your face.'

  32. rory! says – reply to this

    32

Yeah the british are definitely funnier…I just can't even crack a smile if I'm watching something like Scrubs or Two And A Half Men, it's just not funny!

  33. 33

I don't know about what nationality is the funniest, but there's no arguing that the UK Office is far funnier than the US version!

  34. fid says – reply to this

    34

I think the Brits are more subtle, dark and ingenious with their humour. Also, people probably think a lot of Canadians (Seth Rogan, Jim Carey, Phil Hartman, Martin Short, Will Arnett, Dan Akroyd, John Candy, Mike Myers etc.) who have worked in the states to be American so instead they should re-do this whole thing by naming specific people.

  35. 35

Sorry Perez. The British version of The Office is, by far, alot funnier than the American version. If you look at the history of american comedies most of them are not "original" scripts - they are copied from great british comedies.

  36. xoxoj says – reply to this

    36

I don't think that this is something that can be compared. Each nationality has different senses of humor (don't think that's a real expression but whatever). Within America itself there is the subtle Office humor, silly yet smart humor, like Scrubs and 30 Rock, dumb humor like Jackass, and ridiculous humor like Tyler Perry stuff. People like all different kinds of things so comparing different nationalities doesn't really make sense.
Re: jenmarie10 – Yes there is. A lot of people think the US Office is funnier. I mean, we do have Andy, Kelly, Ryan, Angela, Kevin, and Creed who provide the funniest scenes in my opinion.
Re: SOFrenchie – What does either of those things have to do with humor?

  37. 37

If you like slapstick, but seriously how can you measure humour as well all have different senses of what is funny. Personally I seriously do not get the American Office, I watched an episode and didn't crack a smile once but I find the original hilarious because it's less obvious and for me it rings more true.

  38. 38

British Office>>>>American office! It's hard to say, but I agree with America as 1st, but Brits should be 2nd. Gervais/Merchant write hilarious shows!

  39. 39

And when they say 'Americans' I am pretty sure that includes Canadians. The majority of comedic masterminds are seen as Americans to the world, including to Americans and Canadians themselves. What a flawed poll. Way to go MSNBC!

  40. 40

I think Britain is funnier and this is coming from an impartial Australian.

  41. 41

I think the spanish are. They always say funny things and especially when in a fight when someone, a funny fight.
