Can't say we didn't see this coming, but we know there are more than a few of you out there who will be somewhat disappointed.
MTV just announced that they are canceling their adaptation of the British show Skins after only one season. The show had a rocky start, plagued by low ratings, bashings from parental groups and advertisers quickly pulling their ads because of its racy content. Still, MTV stands by their decision to air the show and released this statement on its cancellation:
"Skins is a global television phenomenon that, unfortunately, didn’t connect with a US audience as much as we had hoped. We admire the work that the series’ creator Bryan Elsley did in adapting the show for MTV, and appreciate the core audience that embraced it."
If you are one of those kids in the show's "core audience" and you haven't already, fill the void by watching the U.K. series. It is masterfully written and we think by watching it you'll have a better appreciation for what the U.S. show had to live up to!
