Sister Wives Fam Had Neighbor Try To Evict Them!

Sister Wives Prejudice Evict

It has to be hard when things like this happen, for sure.

Kody Brown, the husband with four wives and star of the reality show Sister Wives recounts when a neighbor tried to get one of his wives evicted because they didn't agree with their lifestyle.

With an unusual life like that, it can't be surprising that not everyone would accept them with open arms, but we can completely understand that even if you expect it that it still hurts just the same:

"It was pure prejudice," Kody said. "A neighbor tried to have one of my wives evicted. We've had people that yell at us out of a window of a car while we're walking on the street."

"Only two per cent of people have been mean. The rest have been families just like ours." Jenelle agreed. "We have very family oriented neighbors with five and six kids. We're getting a lot of exposure to the family side of Vegas."

Regardless of it being something around 2%, that's still too much prejudice for a family that means well and doesn't harm anyone in their community.

Just because you don't agree doesn't mean you have to go out of your way to be mean!

Best of luck, Browns!

I don't really watch this show, but I caught an episode the other night and saw they had relocated and are now all in separate homes. Why did they move to Las Vegas and leave their compound in Utah?

I've seen several SW episodes and still can't make up my mind about the whole polygamy thing. I don't believe they, nor gays, other races and religions, should be taunted for their heritage or lifestyle. I am not sure why they chose Nevada over other states but maybe they felt Vegas would be more accepting. One thing I am curious about though - he drives a Lexus and the wives drive older cars. And where do they get the funds to rent 4 homes, pay bills, clothes and all that? Insurance? Does he have a job yet? There is a certain yuck factor to their sleeping arrangements, no?

I love the show and think the Browns are incredibly brave for staring down the face of (potentially violent, litigious) prejudice and showing themselves to the world.
The thing that I can't help but think when I see these *progressive* polygamist families - the ones that aren't about compounds and cultish enslavement and child abuse - is… how come they're punished for being honest?
One of the children was interviewed in an episode recently and finally said exactly what I've always thought: if a man has a wife and child/ren… and a mistress on the side who he pays for and houses.. that's "cool". It's no big deal. He's just a "playa". But if he's honest about it all, if he cares for and provides for his children and raises them in a family, it's illegal. Seems totally nuts.
It all boils down to the same principle though - they're not hurting anyone. They're contributing to society. Leave them the hell alone, ya know?
PS. @Chooch - Both Kody & his second wife Janelle work full time - he was in advertising until recently which paid pretty well I imagine. Not to mention, none of their cars were bought new (so many people have an issue with his car?!) Also, based on the success of the show and the history of Jon & Kate + 8 et al, I would imagine they're getting paid pretty well for filming the show.

Maybe the neighbors are pissed because of the disruption of their lives now that Cody et al have descended on four different houses and brought the MEDIA and CAMERAS with them. I too would be perturbed at my neighborhood becoming a circus…especially since they are not even home owners but RENTERS!!!

Re: Jeels_ – You have a point about taking care of a mistress and her/your child and expenses vs. what this guy is doing–there really shouldn't be much of a difference. Plus, he is only technically married to one of them. I bet there are quite a few celebs and athletes with this very arrangement going on right now, where the very well to do wives turn the other cheek so as not to give up the cushy lifestyle.

Everyone does know that Bigomy is illegal in the United States.

If I lived near the guy, I wouldn't dislike him because he's got 4 wives. I dislike him because after watching a couple of episodes, I realized he's a pig.

I don't think that he is "married" to all of these ladies. I think that he is really married to Meri and the rest were just commitment ceremonies otherwise he would be in jail for bigomy. Whatever goes on behind closed doors is no one elses business. We can all have our own opinions but bottom line is to really just leave them alone and let them live the lives that make them happy. All of their kids seem to be well adjusted, well behaved and normal. More than I can say about alot of other kids out there that have only 2 parents. Enough said.
