We guess all those years of being tormented by the girl next door, Laura Winslow, really had an affect on him.
Steve Urkel Stefan Urquelle Jaleel White is FINALLY emerging from the shadow cast over him by the iconic nerd he played in the hit 90's sitcom Family Matters and is directing his own romantic comedy!
In a recent Vanity Fair interview, the actor discusses his past role as America's favorite geek, what he's been doing since, and what he's got in store for us in the future.
It turns out, the future may be brighter for Jaleel than anybody ever gave him credit as he teased with words about a feature film he will be directing, saying:
"I'm keeping it under wraps, but I will tell you it's a romantic comedy that Joel Zwick is producing. He directed My Big Fat Greek Wedding. I wrote the script four years ago and I'm really excited about this project. We're shooting in Canada later this summer."
That actually sounds legit with a Hollywood veteran like Joel Zwick attached. On top of the popular wedding movie, the guy has directed TONS of hit sitcoms including Family Matters.
Besides, who better to direct a romcom than a man who faced countless rejections as Steve Urkel, but could seduce a woman at the drop of a dime as Stefan Urquelle? Ha!
Honestly, we wish Jaleel the best of luck as he begins a career as a director and we'd definitely be excited to see his first feature if it makes it to theaters.
If you want to see Jaleel NOW, he's back on the big screen in the kid flick Judy Moody & The NOT Bummer Summer.
Would U go see a movie directed by the guy who played Steve Urkel on Family Matters?
