Thank you, New York! This is incredible!
Yesterday, the Assembly passed a bill that would legalize gay marriage in New York! Though the measure passed with the lowest margin in the four times it has been brought to the floor (80 to 63), the majority was still on the side of equality and now, the bill will make its way to the Senate floor.
But there within lies the biggest hurdle. The bill needs 32 votes to pass on the floor. So far, 31 senators have gone on record as supporting it. Can the cause manage to swing one more vote in their favor in the GOP-controlled Senate? We sincerely hope so!
We're getting so close everyday to a world where every person is afforded the same rights as everyone else, no matter their race, creed or sexual orientation. We're proud of the work New York supporters of equality have been able to accomplish and we hope to see all their hard work pay off soon!
Equality for all!
