Three Candidates In The Running To Replace Regis!

| Filed under: TV NewsRyan SeacrestKelly Ripa

The end is near, which means its time to start speculating who will be replacing Regis Philbin come the fall when he finally retires from his long-running morning talk show. A lot of names have been thrown around every since he made the announcement that he was leaving the show for good, but today sources are revealing the possible top three contenders to sit next to Kelly Ripa every morning.

Drumroll please. And the nominees for Regis' seat are:

Kelly's husband and frequent stand-in for Regis, Mark Consuelos.

Bravo's main man executive and talk show host, Andy Cohen.

And … Ryan Seacrest, (for credentials, just turn on your TV, radio, computer, etc. He's everywhere!)

Of course, ABC is confirming NOTHING and insists that it is "ridiculous" to speculate who will be replacing him at this point. However, we can't help but notice how plausible it would be for any of these candidates to take over for Reg. They each have the experience and the personality for the gig and it would be a huge honor for any of them!

What do U think? Do any of these gents seem like the right man for the job?

I wish The Silver Fox (Anderson Cooper) would replace Regis. He's so fun to watch.

I wish The Silver Fox (Anderson Cooper) would replace Regis. Anderson is so much fun to watch.

Oh great, and how would you like to be the one chosen over her husband, Mark? Talk about an awkward situation. They should start fresh with two new hosts, instead of going the nepotism route.

The youngest Jonas brother was really good when he was on, and I wouldn't call myself a fan at all (can't even remember his name).

What horrible replacements ( except Mark). Sorry Andy is too gay. Middle America mostly views R&K will not get his humor. He is much better with his late night show. Ryan is over exposed now. Do we really need another show with him in it? Mark is good but are we going to be interested in seeing a married couple everyday?

I think that Andy Cohen is the only good option. It is not a good idea for her to work with her husband. Ryan Seacrest doesnt have that kind of time… he already works 20 out of the 24 hours a day. Andy seems like he would add some spice to the show.

Maybe they should start over with 2 new people. Not sure why, but I find Kelly annoying.

Kelly got me started on "Live" - even Stern's tirades couldn't get me to watch Rege and Skankie Lee back in the day.

But, the one thing that will make me NEVER watch "Live" again is the addition of Gaycrest (and I apologize to the gay community — but not as much as he should for his closeted snarky smirky self).

For the sake of the Conseulo marriage, I hope it's the beloved Andy Cohen.

Maybe I stand alone on this, but I actually think Ryan Seacrest would work. They seem to be on the same level, so he can hold his own with Kelly plus they would look great together : ) He's definitely proven to have the work ethic to do it.

    Who cares really….

Re: NancDionne – Good call! He's so hot.

  12. 12

Don't forget "Psycho" Mike the radio guy who guest-hosted with Kelly and then later appeared on "Dancong With The Stars". They had great chemistry and were fun to watch together.

I don't really care who will replace Regis, because actually once in a while I watch that show because of Regis only. So after Regis I won't watch that show again. I'm not a fan of Kelly she is getting into my nerve. She is annoying and too skinny and her arms are to muscular like men's arm.

  14. 14

If gellman wants the show cancelled team her up with husband Mark booooooring and quite frankly he is not that quick! Regis cannot be replaced period . The best they can do is have a "guest" host weekly the way they do now when either is on vacation. No way can Kelly carry the show on her own .

  15. 15

    Neil Patrick Harris!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. 16

I love Kelly, and her husband is great, but I do not want to watch a married couple! Anderson Cooper is the best match for Kelly.

  17. 17

Well at least Cameron Mathison isn't on this short list! Terrible list though! I like her with Mark but they should keep him and use him like they did Regis' wife Joy-sparingly! Andy is not a goo match and Ryan is too pompous for this show. It would be a constant battle for power with him there.

Try Thorsten Kaye from All My Children, he's a sweetheart and has a voice to listen to and really nice to look at too!

  18. 18

    Cancelled in 2012!

  19. 19

Andy Cohen is too much of a queen for the middle American audience. He'll also constantly point out his Jewishness, which is a total BORE!!!!

  20. 20

    Mark blows…Seacrest, overexposed. Andy…meh, no.

  21. 21

    Re: NancDionne – I agree!!

Why don't they audition Rick Sanchez? So he messed up, who doesn't? He's personable and has years of controversy free on air experience. He could do it in his sleep. If he accidentally sparked more controversy, ratings would just go up anyway.

  23. 23

Why does it have to be a guy? It could be a woman. Who I have no idea. None of the candidates listed here are a good idea. Andy, to gay, Ryan, enough of him already, and Mark, oh no, then we have to listen to all the family drama and what goes with it. Actually, now that I think of it they could replace Kelley too and start fresh with 2 new ppl. She is constantly playing with her hair, picking at her fingers, touching her arms, touching her jewelry, touching this, touching that, she drives me up a wall. She has quirks like a person that is a nervous wreck. She should take a chill pill before going out in front of the cameras.

"Live" has always originated from NYC and the guests which appear are there to promote their next activity involving why they're in the Big Apple. Ryan and Andy are both Los Angeles and Hollywood inclined. They're not 'up' on Broadway shows, Macy parades and Kelly would NOT leave her apartment in NYC or her home in the Hamptons to relocate in L.A. Speaking of husband and wife teams…a few years back, George Hamilton had one of the best talk shows on TV with his EX-wife as his cohost. When Regis has a day off, without a doubt, the funniest, quickest witted, and the one who can keep Kelly's interruptions to a minimum is Pat Sajak, but I think he's making TOO much money on "Wheel" to ever leave it…but he WOULD be the best! The biggest tweet I'm reading is a enclave of fans are pulling for Wayne Brady, but Wayne's ability to interview people such as Russell Crowe or Meryl Streep is amateurish. Ryan is hated too much by the masses and is WAY overexposed…Super Bowl, New Year's Eve, Idol, his new talent show.
Anderson Cooper prefers NEWS stories, alreay on CNN and CBS's "60 minutes". He won't take a third show. Of everyone mentioned, Mark C. is the best choice. The women love him, the men are jealous of his looks, and he's the one person Kelly will stop yapping when Mark is making a point. IF they decide to try with another female, there's no one better than Joan Rivers. She's funny as hell and knows EVERY celebrity in the world.
