Bill O'Reilly Interviews Lupe Fiasco (Yes, You Read That Right)

| Filed under: Music MinutePolitikBarack ObamaBill O'Reilly

And boy does it get heated! Phew!

Last night, Bill O'Reilly had rapper Lupe Fiasco on his show to discuss a comment he made earlier in the month about President Obama. Mr. Fiasco had called Obama a "terrorist" and Bill wanted him to clarify his remarks. When Bill calls Lupe out on this, a mild argument ensues between them and while both sides have a point, we can't help but wonder if Bill has more of one than Lupe.

Check out the video to see what we mean (above). Who do U agree with?

Lupé took some artistic liberties with his phrasing- I get was he's saying, some people see Obama as a terrorist- its true- but I do understand what O'Reily is saying as well… If the whole world could hold hands and be friends, we would, but we can't- it doesn't work that way. We can't over simplify, but we can promote peace- Lupé hates that innocent people die in the US militaries bid to protect 'innocent' American's- and I'm sure anyone with compassion can understand that war is a terrible thing. Nevertheless, Lupé is striving for an ideal, while O'Reily is being a realist. The US has tried to negotiate with the Taliban and Alcaida- they don't want to talk… They want the west to burn!

i think lupe sounds stupid, his argument wasn't politically correct and its fine if he has views that are outrageously obscure so be it, but dont come on the o'reilly show and talk about your politics thinking that his views are the right ones, im a fan of lupe but im losing respect for him. he doesnt know how good he has it here and if he really wanted to call a president a terrorist he should have been calling bush not obama smh.

I agree with PitaGram. Can't really say more than that! I thought Bill O'Reilly explained it well, the purpose of Afghanistan and why calling Obama a terrorist is extreme. But Lupe is trying to say that civilians there are also dying at the fault of the U.S, but the U.S. ignores civilian casualties because our "fight against terrorism" is much bigger than them. And if U.S. foreign policies can turn a blind eye to such violence, then we can seem like terrorists to them as well. But then, it's war… =/

This was interesting. O'Reilly defending Obama!! A rapper who is very well spoken and actually smart. I don't completely agree with either of them. But this was very interesting.

Bill O'Reilly needs to stop talking down to everyone when he isn't especially clever himself.

  6. 6

You don't need a degree to understand politics but a little common sense doesn't hurt. Lupe - if you don't like it here - please leave - we have a waiting list of people who want to become citizens. And by all means - shut up and sing…or rap or whatever it is you do.

OF COURSE O'Reilly is correct on this. Lupe is obviously not educated when it comes to political matters.

God Lupe sounded like such a moron. He completely lost when he started talking about the war in Afghanistan bc it shows how little he actually knows about politics. He over simplified it by saying it was to get Bin Laden, when it was really to dismantle Al Quada and stop them from using it as their base. Then he said he wasn't trying to undermine Obama by calling him a terrorist…..um yeah you kinda are.
I think artists have the artisitc freedom to express their views, but I have a problem when they spout fallacious crap and use rhetoric to mask their lack of knowledge about something and in return, other people start believing him and taking on the same ideologies that are based on mistruths.

I don't necessarily agree with either of them. I do understand where Lupe is coming from though and I know that he is not and idiot nor is he an ignorant person he simply does not have all the facts, but of course no one does. This video does seem edited to lean towards O'Riley. Not a fair portrayal of Lupe IMO but I think Lupe dug himself into a bit of a hole and should have come heavily prepared to defend his comments. It is FOX news after all, the odds are already against you from the get go. Very condescending of Bill to tell Lupe the definition of fallacious as if he some how indicated that he didn't know. Lupe's vocabulary is far from stunted but clearly Bill isn't a fan. Lupe could probably explain the definition of a few words to him.
Lupe's still one of my favorite artist but his political views aren't exactly my view.

we really-really need to make clear about the definition of "terrorist". Osama was claimed to be terrorist because he killed about 2973 people. USA army with president's approvement has killed more people in Iraq and Afghanistan just to find one person, Osama. I can understand Lupe's opinion. But what I kinda disagree is it's not the only false of Obama, because Obama just continue doing what Bush did. Whoever the president of USA is, the craziness will never ever stop. One more reason to say that US is kinda terorist is because US always in the side of Israel and vindicate ALL of Israel's actions in killing Palestinian constantly. The craziness will never ends..

Re: noe_rie – I agrre with you. In the end of the day, it doesn't matter who's president, they more or less stand for the same things. The US is one of the most corrupt countries I know of, the extent of the lies they serve are frightening.

  12. 12

BOOM! Fiasco really got him at the end!

  13. 13

This is the first time i have ever heard a Rapper with something intellectual to say! usually rappers sound like they have an education of a 5th grader.. horrible vocabulary..

  14. 14

Lupe held his own very well. I have even more respect for him now! He's smart, can hold his own, and also debate coherently without getting really angry! Go Lupe!

  15. 15

I think Lupe makes a fair and honest point, but maybe did not portray what he was trying to get across as efficiently as O'reily did because he is not used to being on a platform like he is. He was not talking down to Bill the same way Bill was talking down to him. In the eyes of the places we are invading, and probably plenty of other places we are terrorists. We threaten people with violence if they do not do what we want, that is terrorism. They both have great points, and I wouldn't know where I would place my chips if I ever had to choose a side on a debate like that.

  16. 16

I love Lupe's music, I love that he promotes education, I love being a part of his book club. With that said, Mr. O'Reilly does not have to worry about Lupe giving me the wrong message. That already happened when I lost contact with many friends in the east, every blue moon, getting a message like "I wish my country would be safe now, but I'm ok." It depends on how you view it, is a mafia boss who gets his minions to do his biddings a murderer or a provoker? Osama was the ring leader for 9/11, the presidents were the ring leaders for the war, both with different intentions, but in the end, both killed many innocent people….

Re: jrox2233 – Please tell me how President Bush and President Obama are any different…. They seem the same to me. Both war-mongering criminals who work for big corporations instead of the American people!

i love bill o'reilly. and i love that lupe's black and clearly uneducated and everyone on this stupid site hates o'reilly cuz hes a republican but he's actually defending obama in this. i dont like obama at all but its not right to call him a terrorist because that's clearly untrue. so funny when liberals assume republicans are uneducated just because we have different opinions.

Listen, talking is good. It examines and brings to light the issues surrounding the words.

While calling obama extreme, I completely understand where he is coming from. As a middle eastern after all te Afghanistan and Iraq invasions, in alot of people's eyes the US was considered a terrorist state and bush was openly called a terrorist. Before someone jumps up and says al-Qaeda and so on, middle eastern countries have suffered many attacks from al Qaeda as well (more than the us). The point is America has many shady dealings with dictatorships and is not at all innocent and has put the lives of both Americans and other citizens at risk and for what?

  21. 21

    Lupe is loco.

  22. 22

Re: gduque – well spoken? how can anyone who says 'axed' instead of 'asked' be taken seriously. plus, trying to be serious while wearing sunglasses indoors strips any credibility he might have.
plus, he's just another talentless "talker" (or rapper, meaning a person who can't sing, so the do some crappy slam poetry to some music).
and i don't like bill o'reilly at all.

  23. 23

Fuck you, bill! Omg Lupe is soo sexy and smart. I agree with him, and he's got some guts to say this!

  24. 24

O'Reilly is an ass. He just doesn't listen to anyone. I think that America needs to start worrying about America more. I don't believe for a second that we have noble intentions in the middle east. The "war on terror" is a joke. How can you fight an idea with guns?
