The List Is Down To Five Potentials For Christopher Meloni's SVU Replacement!

As sad as we are to see him go…hot damn, have they found quite the list of replacements!

Now that it's official that Christopher Meloni will NOT be returning to police procedural Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for another season, series creator Dick Wolf and NBC have reportedly narrowed down their search for a new detective to five names, which include Ghost Whisperer's David Conrad, Terriers' Michael Raymond-James, Cold Case's Danny Pino, Entourage's Rhys Coiro, and True Blood's Kevin Alejandro!

Apparently, all five are being flown to New York where they are expected to test-screen tomorrow with Mariska Hargitay!

Excellent! Won't be too much longer a wait then!

We just wonder who will be replacing HER after when she takes a back-seat role later on this year!

So many change-ups! We're not sure we like it! LOLz!

What do U think?? Which one of those gents should replace Detective Stabler??

I am actually really sad. Chris and Mariska are the best team and they are the main reasons why the show has been a hit for almost 13 years. The SVU fans are going to be sizing up the new guy and making sure that he either lives up or surpasses Chris. Same goes with Mariska. I'm glad that she will still have a role in the series but when she was gone on leave(I wanna say when she had her baby) and that lady that played Dani was Chris' partner, I didn't really like her so much just because of the chemistry between Mariska and Chris. So lets just hope that Mr. Wolf and NBC know what their doing because this is an awesome series that had such a great following. I will be tuning in to see the new people, I just hope they are as great as Benson and Stabler. :)

    I VOTE Kevin Alejandro!

Being as they cancelled law and order LA they should have Terrance Howard on SVU, I loveeee him!

well..that sucks that hes gone but i think Kevin Alejandro would be a great fit.

they need to keep looking or just stop the show.

They should bring back the Wentworth Miller character from two season ago.
    He was GREAT!

My vote is for Danny Pino. I loved him on Cold Case and i think he'd be perfect for the role. I don't think svu will ever be the same without Chris and Mariska but hopefully it's still good!!! P.S. I wouldn't mind seeing Wentworth Miller on there again either…just saying…

If they cast Michael Raymond-James all I'm going to see is him running around as Renee with a cajun accent and trying to kill Sookie. Then I'll think about Arlene's devil baby.

    David Conrad

re: Razzberrie…….Interesting choice Wentworth Miller. Good eye…..

I don't think the show will survive without him :( Its ok I'll watch the food network instead. I hear Extreme Chef is going to be EPIC! There's a sneak peek Sunday, June 26 at 10:30pm/9:30c. So excited!!

None of the above. Benson and Stabler together are what made the show work. It's bad enough that Wolf let Meloni get away, to try to replace him is just…pointless. Let the show go, DW, while people still have positive memories of it, or stop trying to find a replacement and work out a deal with Meloni.

would love to see DENNIS FRANZ (of NYPD Blue fame–Andy Sipowicz)
    .
miss him on TV and everything he does is fantastic!!!

or how about Jesse L Martin who was on Law and Order as Ed Green
if there was a way to bring his character back somehow and have him transferred to the unit as the newbie to learn from the seasoned veterans

Some of those choices don't exactly make sense. Both Kevin Alejandro and Michael Raymond-James were guest stars on SVU previously..and they were the bad guys. Alejandro was on the episode with the girl who branded them and said that 'I'm nobody. Are you nobody too?" and Raymond-James was on an episode this past season. So I'm not sure how they would fit in the show..unless they introduced them as totally new characters. If thats the case my votes for Alejandro. Yum!

And I'm with you Gatoo887.. When I see Raymond-James, all I see is Renee and that accent. haha Same with Alejandro, all I see is True Blood for him too.

Danny Pino - that role needs someone with balls and not necessarily a flavour of the month pretty boy. As for someone to take Mariska's role down the track…. gees…. a ballsy, "handsome" smart woman with 'real" assets on the small screen? Well that's as rare as hen's teeth isn't it! get Kathryn Morris at the same time as Danny Pino…. that's my five cents.

Re: KFT55 – I agree. Meloni is the reason I watch the show. Make a deal with him for one season so he can have a proper send off (not just durnig the first episode like the last few minutes have Benson mention wow I really can't believe El is gone and never tell us why). The show will totally be gone when Mariska leaves next season anyway. Face it Dick Wolfe, this show's always been different than the other ones any way because of Meloni and Hargitay's chemistry and the info on their personal lives. And I'm sorry. I didn't like that guy from a few season's ago. To me he was too much of a bully and it sounded like he couldn't act. If I had to put anyone in Meloni's spot it would be Jeremy Sisto from the flagship's last couple of seasons. I loved him in his role, but Chris Meloni deserves to go out with style and apparently negotiating has been tough for him the last few times he has had to do it. Seems like Mariska gets her way easily.
